Loyola's web specialist serves as the primary point of contact for client-side support of the Loyola.edu website. This includes training users on how to use the University's CMS, managing system access, addressing end-user support tickets, and enforcing best web practices. This position also executes a variety of projects to support the University's website marketing efforts.
  1. Manage client-side web-related projects, working with a wide range of individuals throughout the University. Develop and execute content strategies and analysis for marketing initiatives that align with institutional goals at all three schools, and approximately 200 academic and department sites. This includes monitoring and maintaining all activity on the CMS, regularly auditing sites' content/IA/SEO/accessibility, making recommendations for improvements to existing site architecture and content, organizing website information to support UX and provide recommendations to the team for UI, and managing an editorial calendar to schedule and post timely and relevant web content. Ensure that all content meets established standards and inform team of any technical challenges in displaying the content.
  2. Oversee and respond to web assistance requests. Delegate web requests to any student employees the department may have, and provide training, support, and guidance to those students.
  3. Manage the Universities' Content Owners Network, which is a group of approximately 300 content owners on campus to ensure they are carrying out the standards established by the web team. Manage user training on the CMS, including setting users up with access to asynchronous training, reviewing their work, and following up to provide one-on-one training if needed. Regularly review and modify CMS training materials. Manage all CMS user permissions and approve/deny user access.
  4. Work with supervisor to identify bugs and test fixes. Develop communication plans for content owners about outages and system upgrades.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Communications, English, or Journalism
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of organizing, writing, editing, and publishing effective web content; information architecture; search engine optimization; accessibility; and web content management
  • An aptitude for learning University applications/software (e.g., Sitecore, SiteImprove, Photoshop, Asana)
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Loyola University Maryland

  • Communications proficiency (written, oral, and digital media)
