The History Department at Loyola University Maryland invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Latin American history. The successful applicant will teach four undergraduate courses a semester (ordinarily two preparations), including Introduction to Modern Latin America and HS 100 Encountering the Past. Ability to teach History of Mexico preferred. Taken by all Loyola students as part of the Core Curriculum, HS 100 Encountering the Past uses the perspective of a single historical topic chosen by the instructor to introduce students to the field of history and its importance for understanding the present. Basic departmental or university service is expected (e.g., attending faculty meetings). We seek candidates who display a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, including an appreciation of or engagement in high impact practices in History. The appointment will begin on August 24, 2023. Ph.D. in hand and teaching experience preferred but not required. Applicants must submit online a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching evaluations, and the names and contact information of three referees at https://careers.loyola.edu. Paper applications cannot be accepted. Review of applications will begin on April 21st.
