Role

This position involves an array of responsibilities and oversight to include, retail branching and business development. The VP of Retail focuses on the daily operations of the retail network to include: member experience, operational process excellence, compliance, business development, production, employee development, and sales. The VP of Retail assures consistency and focus of operations throughout the retail network and is responsible for creating and sustaining a culture of operational excellence.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

30% - Directs the retail branch network, business development, marketing, and community outreach functions providing leadership, training and supervision while ensuring compliance with credit union policies and procedures, applicable state and federal banking regulations and laws.

30% - Manages direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company, including: hiring, directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion, and terminations, as appropriate.

20% - Serves as the strategist for the retail branching and business development functions, recommending new processes, functions, products and systems that will enhance the member experience, grow the credit union and increase operational excellence.. Stays abreast of, analyzes, and informs management of developing industry and compliance trends, scams or schemes and changes to laws and regulations pertaining to credit unions. Provides oversight and support in facilitating and coordinating through applicable regulatory compliance. Develops recommended actions for Senior Management, as applicable. Ensures all required regulatory reporting is conducted in a timely, accurate and compliant manner. Reviews various maintenance reports to ensure accuracy.

20% - Oversees and completes projects as assigned. Keeps management apprised of all critical issues. Complies and maintains documentation of policies and procedures to include business continuity and disaster recovery documentation.

Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience

Five or more years of operations knowledge, with supervisory experience is strongly desired, preferably in a financial institution.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university required. Knowledge of Credit Union, Federal and NCUA regulatory legislation and financial reporting desired.

Interpersonal Skills

The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.

Other Skills

1. Proven experience in participating/managing multiple projects and ability to work with limited supervision. Ability to work in a team environment, meet deadlines and take on a high level of responsibility and accountability. 2. Must be proficient in various software packages to include, but not limited to, the following software applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database management and presentation packages. 3. Exceptional communication and presentations skills in both a verbal and written format. 4. Demonstrated leadership and credibility. Capable of generating a high degree of respect and trust and build relationships rapidly with staff, management, volunteers, vendors and examiners. 5. Proven experience in effective delegation and oversight of tasks assigned to subordinates.

Physical Requirements

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 5 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must by capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions with supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations with extreme accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines/requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters.
