POSITION SUMMARYThe Diagnostic Technologist performs diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care. Diagnostic testing includes X-ray, CAT scan, ultrasound, MRI, nuclear medicine, mammography, interventional procedures, and PET/CT procedures.
The Diagnostic Technologist performs diagnostic testing as directed by the physician at a competent technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position operates diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results. The Technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet quality patient care standards. This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.
This position actively participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONSLICENSE: Licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection for all modalities except Ultrasound. ARDMS is required for Ultrasound. NMTCB or ARRT(N) for PET/CT
EXPERIENCE: Candidates must possess ability to multitask, with attention to fine detail in a fast paced environment. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire. NJDEP State License expires every two years and must be renewed biennially to work. ARRT expires on incumbent's date of birth and must be renewed annually to work.

WORK ENVIRONMENTPotential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, potential injury, and hazardous substances, including electromagnetic radiation. Position requires the ability to stand a majority of the time; technologist performing MRIs require the ability to sit in front of a CRT monitor much of the time. Position requires extensive pushing, pulling and lifting of patients and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Cardiac/cardiovascular, renal, skeletal, pulmonary conditions and diseases including but not limited to: CAD, PE, cholecystitis, oncology, etc..
Special Procedures
Stents/declot vascular, renal conditions and diseases including but not limited to PVD, renal, oncology, etc..
Ultrasound

All Oncology including skin conditions, single pulmonary nodules, head and neck cancers. Radiation treatment planning simulation
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPThis position reports to the Radiology Manager. This position takes direction from the Lead Diagnostic Technologist. This position reports to the Clinical Director in the Cath Lab. This position also reports to the Practice Manager at the Urgent Care Centers.
