Tool & Die Technician

JOB OVERVIEW:
Leading manufacturer of strata control products is seeking to fill a Tool & Die Technician position for its Sinton, TX single-site steel coil processing plant. This position will be responsible for supporting production operation setup and efficiencies by keeping tools and dies optimized as outlined below.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma/GED required; Technical Training Preferred;
- Machining or Tool and Die Technology Certification Preferred;
- Minimum Three (3) Years Machining/Tool & Die Experience Required or Combination of Certification and Experience;
- Mechanical background with experience in use of micrometers, calipers, and various other precision measuring instruments
- Steel Service Center Experience Preferred.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency of Blueprint GD&T interpretation of Dies, Details, and Part Prints
- Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and solve daily operational deficiencies
- Usage of a computer and other productivity machinery such as control panels
- Ability to interpret C.M.M. or gaging information and adjust Tooling to maintain Customer Quality requirements
- Possess working knowledge of IATF16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance criteria to maintain manufacturing environmental standards to protect and preserve our customers product and the environment
- Dependability to be consistently at work and on time with ability to work overtime;
- Ability to read/comprehend written instruction, follow verbal directives, follow general and maintenance-specific safety procedures and guidelines;
- Functional mathematical ability including knowledge of fractions and decimals to perform fundamental math calculations and measurement computing;
- Functional mechanical knowledge with basic understanding of computers;
- Possess team mentality with self-motivation skills;
- Close visual acuity; near/far vision; repetitive standing, walking, and/or bending; medium/heavy lifting (up to 65 lbs.) capability; multiple limb coordination.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Routine maintenance and machine setup actions;
- Read and interpret technical drawings for machining specifications;
- Use precision measuring devices to verify conformance to specifications;
- Assess damaged tooling and stamping dies (in or out of machine) and determine necessary interim repairs;
- Machine tooling actions on conventional machines including, but not limited to: lathes, shaper, planers, and milling machines;
- Machine tooling actions on various metal forming tools including grinders, saws, press, drilling and boring machines;
- Set and position machine dies for various machines/equipment to comply with productions specifications;
- Operating all production equipment.
