Job Description Summary
This is a 9 month academic year position.

The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise activities at the Dana Center and the athletic fields. The Dana Center functions as an athletic arena for 22 programs to perform and train year round and also supports the entire Bentley community and its many activities. Activities include: Club Sports, Intramural events, Greek life, Career Fair, Student concerts, Midnight Madness, Greedy Bingo, RHA Battle of the Buildings and several other student group activities. This position will help supervise the full range of operations for all Athletic facilities and is part of the administrative team that covers all athletic, intramural, and recreational hours of use.

Essential Duties
  • Building Operations - This position will help facilitate the operating hours of the athletic facilities; oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility; maintain and expand checklists for building and field equipment; address any questions or issues that might arise during the course of a day/night; lead and assist all intramural work-study staff, work with student employees and team mangers on daily laundry system for athletic teams; work closely with the Assistant Director, Athletics Facilities on daily operations and staff of the facility.
  • Supervision of Recreational Activities - Assist with the coordination and supervision of any student group who schedules field or facility space; supervise any issuing field equipment needs or issues related to recreational activity at the Dana Center; work closely with the Assistant Director, Facilities to accommodate and schedule any recreational requests.
  • Assistant Supervisor of Club Sports - Work with the Club and Recreational sport advisors and/or coaches regarding any scheduling needs to be provided through the Dana Center or athletic fields.
  • Supervision of Intramural Program - Supervise all intramural games played both inside the Dana Center and outside on the fields; work closely with the Intramural Director on monitoring, developing and expanding the program. Hire and supervise all intramural student workers.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and understanding of the demands of working in an athletic department.
  • The ability to relate to a wide range of people is essential to this job, as well as organization and time management skills.
  • Must have solid verbal and social skills to interact and communicate with all work-study staff, athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and students.
  • The ability to plan and organize a multitude of events and work with student organizations.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver's license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley's insurance carrier.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include afternoons, evenings, and weekends.


Work Environment
  • Some of the functions of the job have strict timeframe commitments while other facets of the job are dealt with on as they arise.
  • As with any job committed to helping students and athletes, some overtime is required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to perform occasional heavy lifting of equipment or other material, frequent walking and standing, and other sometimes strenuous activity as needed to support the athletics facilities.
  • The amount of activity that the athletic facilities are used for is extensive.
  • In order to keep conflicts from arising between staff and groups that use the facility, a physical presence must be seen and engaged at all times during the active periods or problems will occur.
