This role is responsible for running the day-to-day operations on the construction site. The role of the Superintendent includes but is not limited to safety, schedule and quality control, logistics, owner and subcontractor coordination responsibilities. The duties of the Superintendent include pre-construction activities and continue through construction and closeout. The Superintendent shall work closely with the Project Manager in the implementation of cost control, phasing and scheduling.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall management of project field operations
  • Coordinate subcontractors, site logistics, and owner operations related to the project
  • Assist in the creation and management of the project schedule
  • Responsible for ensuring work product is in compliance with drawings and specifications
  • Identify project risk and work to mitigate it
  • Responsible for ensuring that project deliverables are on time, within budget, and at the required level of quality
  • Collaborate with clients, management, and sub-contractors to define work procedures and resolve complaints and construction problems
  • Prepare and monitor punch list items; manage the closeout process to completion
  • Assist in establishing budgets, take-offs, and bids. Identify the causes of cost variances and eliminate negative variances
  • Communicate quality standards to each subcontractor and vendor
  • Conduct systematic quality control inspections
  • Follows company safety program, laws, and OSHA operating standards
  • Manage job site cleanliness and compliance with any operational requirements
  • Prepares daily logs
  • Review design and construction documents for the identification of constructability issues
  • Represent the company in project meetings and attend strategy meetings
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the client at all times
  • Ensure compliance with Railway specific requirements
  • Perform other duties as may be required/directed

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 10-15 years of Railroad specific construction experience
  • Reliable transportation to the worksite
  • Ability to work on a team and independently
