Job Summary:

Responsible to manage the inventory commodities of responsibility, demonstrating advanced supplier development. Purchase and schedule material in accordance with accepted standards of professional ethics. Works under only general direction; independently determines and develops solutions to material issues.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for supplier selection, serve as lead negotiator for complex, high value transactions including the support of due diligence activities. Lead cross-functional business partners to include all aspects of operation and supply chain in contract execution

Negotiate with suppliers, using innovative methods where necessary to bring best cost solutions to ULBIs material requirements. Drive and execute supplier negotiation strategies that reflect and maximize Ultralifes buying power, focusing on supplier quality, total cost and performance while minimizing risk.

Maintain network of suppliers to ensure they meet the required standards for financial health, quality management, IP protection and risk management profiles. Assists in the selection, measurement, and review of suppliers.

Purchase independent demands generated from approved purchase requisitions.

Monitors supplier performance, advising supplier of delivery or quality issues, implementing corrective action measures with suppliers.

Initiates supplier development to advance capabilities of desired suppliers where higher quality, delivery or capability would bring advantage to ULBI.

Identifies and develops additional or alternative sources of supply.

Provides insights regarding technical solutions available in the marketplace that may address a wide range of design, process, continuous improvement or NPD related challenges.

Reports unresolved material needs (shortages) to the appropriate production and manufacturing personnel and works to solve them.

Advises where future pricing or availability may introduce risk and recommends mitigation plan.

Demonstrates superior negotiation skills through price/cost analysis and competition.

Keeps abreast of current affairs, industrial developments, and production and price trends.

Seeks to actively update procurement skills and capabilities.

Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Education / Training / Skills / Experience:

Bachelors degree in Business or technical discipline required. MBA or Masters degree is preferred

Minimum of 3-5 years in strategic sourcing/supply chain management of electronic manufacturing categories is preferred.

Minimum 3-5 years combined buying or planning experience.

CPM/CPIM preferred.

Must have a general knowledge of ISO requirements and a working knowledge of those requirements as they pertain to the provision of document / record control, purchasing of parts, materials, tooling used in manufactured product or in support of product manufacture, identification / traceability / preservation of product, supplier qualification and management, control of nonconforming product, data analysis, and corrective and preventive action in support of product manufacture.

Physical Requirements:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
