What You'll Do:

The Sr. Project Manager leads business development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to develop partnerships with the district, local district superintendents, and specific schools across the district to improve student learning outcomes and to transform teaching and learning through the implementation of engaging standards-based K-12 digital curriculum, delivery of intensive professional development, and engagement within the global community.

This individual focuses on developing relationships at all levels, informed by consistent messaging that leads to the attainment of revenue goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Educational Partnerships (Sales)

  • Strategize, develop, and activate digital outreach strategies that will cultivate and nurture relationships with key decision-making individuals responsible for education programming across all departments and school sites. Individual will be assigned and accountable for developing/ executing critical-issue-specific business development strategies.
  • Work with educational partners to implement solutions that meet their educational objectives. Portfolio should include a mix of Discovery Education Experience, digital Techbooks/curriculum packs, professional learning, and STEM services.
  • Manage the territory that includes 1,000 schools and over 600,000 students.
  • Provide thought leadership to partners by connecting educators with effective practices.

Implementation/Account Management (Success)

  • Collaboratively establish structured rollout plans including user management, Professional Learning support and track progress to ensure on-time delivers and that plans stay within scope of partnership.
  • Project Manage large scale professional development plans between district personnel and internal professional learning facilitators to drive awareness and usage of Discovery Education.
  • Ensure ongoing dialogue with highest-level leaders involved in implementations. Discuss progress with key leaders throughout the implementation to ensure key stakeholder satisfaction. Communicate across Discovery Education to inform the growth of our business in the district
  • Schedule and deliver product training and product professional learning aligned to the specific contract and needs of the district partner.
  • Select and manage any necessary professional learning facilitators to ensure fidelity to district goals and quality of implementation.
  • Review, understand, deliver, and in some instances, create the professional learning content to ensure fidelity and quality of implementation.
  • Ensure the appropriate collection of any data from all stakeholders using approved tools, systems, and techniques.
  • Coordinate and partner to lead high-value in-person and virtual events to drive awareness and service adoption in support of goals.
  • Collaborate with the Discovery Education Community (DEN) to elevate, celebrate and share best practices across the district.

Stakeholder Relationships

  • Develop relationships at an executive level within the districts Central Office, Local District Leadership and key education influencer's within the district to drive growth and maintain our trusted advisor position.
  • Ensure and empower team members establish and maintain relationships at the appropriate levels.
  • Continue to align the DE partnership to the ongoing strategic vision of the district.

Knowledge of DE Services

  • Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of all Discovery Education services and Looker Data to align products and usage trends meet the needs of the districts strategic vision.
  • Present overview of Discovery Education and services in a credible and consistent manner. Ensure colleagues are capable of the same.
  • Consistently work with educational leaders to design partnerships of Discovery Education services in a meaningful and solution-oriented way.
  • Serve as an expert on the districts Schools. Maintain an understanding of industry trends, current events, anything that may impact the business by reading professional publications, researching all available resources, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Effectively communicate with educational partners regarding current educational topics and trends (i.e. Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards, funding, legislation, technology, etc.).

Leadership

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively across Discovery Education to support strategies for growing Discovery Education partnerships in the district.
  • With growth, develop a team with clearly defined revenue targets and drive a regular cadence of territory reviews and business plans.
  • Develop individual strategies for team members that ultimately support overall territory strategy.
  • Model effective communication, presentation skills, account strategy, and problem solving for the team.
  • Coach team members and collaborators to effectively work the district and build capacity for securing new partnerships.

Internal Communication

  • Interact directly with senior management across Discovery Education to articulate growth opportunities for educational partnerships and provide leadership related to general strategy and business development.
  • Assist in the creation of sales and marketing materials for the district.

Budget

  • Assist with the development of annual territory revenue and expense projections.
  • Adhere to budget by managing travel, marketing, and account management expenses.

General

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Discovery Education's overall goals and strategic vision. Share this knowledge with team and partners when appropriate.
  • Provide consistently positive and energetic leadership.
  • Live in greater New York City area to be active in the district daily. Additional travel approximately 10-20% of time (with seasonal variations) for conferences and company meetings.
  • Meet with key stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Establish strong relationships will all internal and external partners.
  • Maintain accurate/timely records within CRM tools of business development activities and coordinate development reports and outreach and usage dashboards regarding all prospective partner activities.

Who You Are:

The perfect candidate for this role will possess a proven track record of revenue generation and quota attainment in complex, solutions sales (products and services) selling to a variety of decision makers, as well as large scale project management experience. She/he will also have strong interpersonal, presentation, organizational and verbal/written communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage a diverse workload. She/he will possess a growth mindset and team-oriented character - motivated by helping others succeed as much as individual success.

  • Professional Experience: 5-7 years of experience in customer success, account management, project management, and/or sales with a proven track record of territory management, consultative sales, and exceptional client relations. Demonstrated experience working with NYC School Districts or other similar large systems. Additional background in education is preferred.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal, presentation, organizational and verbal/written communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage a diverse workload. Possess a growth mindset and team-oriented character - motivated by helping others succeed as much as individual success. Proven track record of success.
    • Managerial experience with a proven track record of territory management and exceptional client relations.
    • Deep understanding of K-12 instructional practices, curriculum standards, and effective professional development strategies preferred
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of skills, training, and experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Suite of Microsoft Office, CRM/Salesforce preferred, Gainsight, Vidyard, Looker.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-Motivation and Self-Starter: Driven self-starter with the ability to do what needs to be done without being micromanaged; ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks, proactively manage numerous projects, and prioritize competing timelines; demonstrate a problem solving/ solution-oriented approach.
  • Learning Orientation: Always willing to learn something new, not rigid in beliefs or expectations
  • Focus on Diversity: Have a demonstrated ability to understand, accept and engage with people of diverse backgrounds.
