Position Summary:

Responsible for functioning as an individual contributor and subject matter expert for IV solution containers packaging, related planning, equipment testing and troubleshooting. Provide engineering expertise for the design, development, installation, evaluation, startup, verification, maintenance, sustainability, and optimization of packaging systems and equipment. Demonstrate packaging expertise within the engineering field while working across a variety of functional groups that are directly involved with capital project life cycles and site operations.

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Develops, evaluates and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules or other information to facilitate production processes.
  • Confers with vendors in order to determine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase and parts.
  • Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Requires breadth of professional field and industry knowledge. Ability to integrate critical information and champion advance strategies/concepts through the organization. Drives development of advanced technologies, principles and processes.
  • Work under minimal supervision. Relief on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals. May periodically assist in orientation training, assigning and checking the work of lower level employees. Referring only complex problems and issues.
  • Judgement is required in resolving complex problems based on experience.
  • Contacts are primarily with department supervisors, leads, subordinates and peers, frequent contact with external contractors/vendors.
  • Experience with the following is a plus:
    • Medical Device Industry
    • Standards ISO:11607, UDI, Track and Trace, EU-MDR, ISTA, ASTM 4169
    • Equipment: HFFS, Rotary Tray Sealers, Impulse Sealer, Thermoforming, Band Sealers, Conveyors, Case Sealers, Burst Tester, Peel Testers, HD Printer and Labeling.
    • Regulatory Bodies FDA and TUV
    • Materials: Tyvek, Medical Grade Paper, Films, Pouches, Medical trays, HIPS, Corrugated, Folding Carton, Labels and Inks.
    • Root Cause Analysis experience.
    • Computerized Systems:
    • Cape Pack or Tops
      • Minitab, Statgraphics
      • MS Project
  • Packaging Engineering degree preferred.


  • IoPP Certified
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified


Expertise: Qualifications - Experience/Training/Education/Etc


  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. Engineering) from four-year college or university and 6-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of 14 years of education and experience.
