Amgen is seeking a Sr. IS Business Systems Analyst, to join our Research and Development Informatics organization. This position will be reporting to Sr. Manager Information Systems, Patient Safety IS based out of Thousand Oaks, CA. This role will serve as a liaison between business partners and Safety product team for client delivery of technical solutions globally while adhering to Amgen standards, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Partners with clients and technical teams to deliver strategic initiatives
  • Must have good communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical and presentation skills and prepare and maintain communication materials (e.g. roadmaps, presentations)
  • Develop validation artifacts such as Requirements and Design Specifications
  • Provide support during Pharmacovigilance inspections/audits (e.g. FDA/MHRA)
  • Lead projects end-to-end including development of Business Cases for IS investments to obtain funding for delivery and hyper care
  • Leads multiple projects with minimum supervision
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical problems
  • Mentor or provide technical training to new team members
  • Keep updated on market trends and developments in new technologies (e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Business Intelligence tools and Data Science) and industry processes to provide recommendations and deliver standard methodology solutions
  • Must be able to think and act strategically, and operationalize the solutions


  • Understand Patient Safety business processes and remain informed about changes in agency regulations able to work effectively under minimal supervision.
  • Write SQL queries to manipulate and visualize data using data visualization tools


Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree
  • OR
  • Master's degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience
  • OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience
  • OR
  • Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience
  • OR
  • High school diploma/GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with working with validated systems (e.g. GxP)
  • Ability to perform with minimal supports/supervision
  • Experience with leading agile development methodologies (e.g. Sprint and Scrum) and DevOPS
  • Experience in pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Information System infrastructure, system design and architecture as well as service management and road-mapping
  • In-depth experience in all aspects of SDLC from requirements, design, testing, strong business analysis, data analysis and Change Control process combined with experience developing project charters, statement of work and project financials
  • Working knowledge of RDMS, such as Oracle and experience writing advance SQL queries
  • Familiarity with large enterprise applications/platforms like Salesforce & Tableau
  • Strong working experience in directing global external vendor relationships for delivery of the build and run services
  • Experience with service optimization and operational improvements of IS services
  • High learning agility, innovation, and problem-solving skills
