ABOUT THE ROLE

To ensure OUPs production and editorial services are well regarded by our Society partners, and continually develop to respond to our partners evolving needs. To support OUPs goals of growth and exceptional service delivery in journals by representing our services in competitive bids, contract renewals, and in the ongoing development of key accounts. To co-ordinate responses to multi-faceted and cross-functional operational challenges, including developing robust communication strategies for our partners.

1. Represent production and editorial services in competitive tenders by maintaining and updating bid text detailing our services, creating custom text as needed for individual tenders, and when required presenting at or attending bid meetings as part of OUPs cross-functional bid team.

2. Develop and deliver strategies for optimizing production performance and service levels on key Society accounts, as agreed with Journals Editorial Directors, working cross-functionally to co-ordinate cross-functional teams in agreeing goals, actions and communication strategies, monitoring performance and tracking delivery against agreed targets.

3. Develop and deliver strategies for optimizing production performance and service levels on Society-owned titles approaching contract renewal, tracking delivery as described in accountability [2] and contributing to tender processes as described in accountability [1].

4. Take the lead in coordinating troubleshooting for multi-faceted challenges affecting individual Society accounts that require input from multiple teams, as agreed with the Head of Journals Operations, agreeing goals and tracking delivery as described in accountability [2], and meeting as needed with external stakeholders to solicit feedback and communicate agreed actions.

5. Develop and deliver effective approaches to soliciting and measuring Society partner satisfaction with our services, making recommendations and working with the Journals Operations leadership team and Journals Editorial to continually improve perceptions of our services, and measuring the impact of agreed initiatives.

6. Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand our Society partners evolving needs in relation to production and editorial services, and OUPs developing capabilities.

7. Formulate communication strategies to ensure Society partners are made aware of OUPs service levels and developing capabilities, so that OUPs services are viewed positively and considered transparent, collaborative, and responsive to evolving needs.

ABOUT YOU

Experience of managing sensitive client relationships or complex stakeholder engagement
Experience of successfully managing multiple projects to completion
Experience of managing cross-functional projects or managing deliverables in a matrix environment
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Excellent presentation skills
Excellent negotiation skills
Experience of managing production of a significant number of products in a publishing environment (preferred)
Experience of managing third-party and freelance vendors (preferred)

Position Location: This position can be done in a hybrid capacity out of New York, NY, Cary, NC, or Sunderland, MA. The position can also be done in a remote capacity.
