Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for driving the strategy, planning process and execution for large scale events across the enterprise. This role requires excellent project management, time management and problem-solving skills. The candidate should be extremely detail-oriented and have hands-on experience in planning, producing, and directing virtual and in person events. The candidate should have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing demands. This role will service and interact with a diverse group of important clients including our most senior leaders as well as internal contacts at all levels. This position will lead a team to deliver world class customer experience with solid skills and domain expertise in video conferencing and streaming technology.

The Customer Care & Experience team at Amgen focuses on advancing capabilities which improve the experience of internal Amgen customers (workforce). Within Customer Care & Experience, the Digital Workplace Experience team focuses on driving adoption and maximizing business value of deployed End User Technologies. These include synchronous and asynchronous collaboration solutions such as WebEx, Microsoft Teams, and Miro, and devices such as PCs, mobile phones and tablets, and printers. The team consists of cross-disciplinary IS professionals who understand how to deliver services that span operations, engineering, governance, and enablement.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Management of virtual events with 1,000 participants or more including quarterly earnings calls
  • Management of live events with 15-20,000 attendees using streaming technology
  • Management of intake process for event requests
  • Communication with key stakeholders on event planning, performance, and issue resolution
  • Develop long-term product/technical vision and strategy for in person & virtual events
  • Collaborate with engineering to assess impact of new technologies, identify needed features, and incorporate analysis into roadmaps
  • Collaborate with EVIP support team for all executive level events
  • Create, maintain, and execute upon best practice documents and process improvement documents
  • Build processes for repeatability, scalability, and reliability of event activities including pre-event testing and contingency planning
  • Run large auditorium and events spaces on site
  • Management of AV Events team-managed service provider
  • Guide continuous improvement efforts for this service
  • Handling key incidents and ensuring all relevant parties are engaged to determine and enact timely resolution. Ensuring appropriate IT teams provide root cause analysis and preventative actions.
  • Development and management of key service metrics
  • Identifying and implementing industry best practices, strategies, and processes to support a best-in-class customer experience
  • Accountability for succession planning and talent development within your organization

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience

Or

Master's degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience

Or

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience

Or

Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

And

2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership presence and interpersonal/communication skills (written and oral).
  • Established habit of proactive thinking and behavior and the desire and ability to self-start/learn
  • Project management skills with demonstrated ability to deliver results
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong problem solving capability
  • Vendor management
  • Subject matter expertise in video conferencing and streaming technology
  • Experience delivering large scale virtual events
  • Experience managing on site events in auditoriums and event spaces
  • Experience managing technical teams
  • People management experience of 3 or more FTE direct reports
  • Strong bias for action and results orientation
  • Experiences in Biotech/Pharma is a plus
