The Insights & Analytics APAC Hub delivers actionable and accessible insights about Discoverys products, content and consumers, which enables data-lead decision making that drives profitable growth in subscribers, audience and revenue.

Reporting to the Head of Insight & Analytics for APAC, the Senior Insights Manager is a newly created role to lead the development of insights to support growth of D2C products, as well as bring market and consumer intelligence to the APAC region. The role works across Content, Digital/D2C Product, Commercial Development/Strategy, Ad Sales and Marketing in APAC, as well as having direct oversight of performance management for D2C products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, Analysis and Insights to support D2C Growth
    • Develop actionable insights to support proactive and reactive responses to D2C growth initiatives
    • Create resources to support a deeper understanding of D2C audiences by blending various data sources (inc. analytics, brand/subscriber information) and other available data
    • Provide high-level management reporting on D2C and multi-platform performance for senior management
    • Create broader thought-leadership resources to support trade

  • Market & Competitive Intelligence
    • Build reports and self-service tools to track key market and consumer trends, especially for D2C, VOD and linear TV services
    • Highlight key competitor activity and key industry news / developments
    • Support strategy and business development with information from various data sources (inc. third-party reports) to build strong business cases for use by senior management

  • Brand, Subscriber and Consumer Insights
    • Manage brand tracking resources using in-house survey tools / external data vendors
    • Create subscriber engagement surveys / tools
    • Conduct ad-hoc studies to support Digital/D2C Product, Content, Ad-Sales, Commercial Development/Strategy, and Marketing
    • Work with external research vendors on primary research projects for key initiatives

  • Oversee D2C Performance Management, Reporting and Insights
    • Directly manage at least two direct reports
    • Guide the senior analysts on regular performance management and the analysis of key business activity
    • Provide hands-on support and liaise with key personnel in the D2C business for complex business queries and insights


Qualities Required:

  • 10+ years experience in relevant field
  • Knowledge of media & entertainment industry is highly valued, especially experience with D2C products
  • Ability to problem solve and provide actionable insights to address key business issues using a range of data sources, tools and information resources
  • Understanding of an array of research methodologies
  • Proven ability to manage end-to-end consumer insight studies - including using questionnaire writing, survey software (e.g. Qualtrics, FocusVision), analysis tools (e.g. SPSS, Q) is essential
  • Knowledge of dashboarding technologies (e.g. PowerBI and Tableau) is desirable
  • Excellent communication and business-facing skills, both written and verbal
  • Team leadership qualities with strong cultural awareness and attitude of agility; comfortable managing a team across several diverse markets
  • Fluent in English
