Senior Associate, Talent Management and Development (Hybrid)

The Human Resources (HR) Department within Pew is comprised of the following main functions: Talent Acquisition, Business Partnership/Employee Relations, Talent Management and Development, Internal Communications, and Total Rewards. The department provides strategic support to the business by aligning priorities and service delivery with the needs of the organization, providing expertise and leadership in each functional area, and serving as an internal consultant to help drive results.

A team of skilled professionals currently provides support and consultation to approximately 1000 distributed staff. This includes developing, implementing, and maintaining the best practices in the areas of talent acquisition; organizational design, staff development, performance, and talent management; employee relations; compliance; and compensation and benefits. HR is comprised of approximately 30 staff with representation in both Philadelphia and Washington, DC to provide in-depth expertise to clients.

Position Overview

The Senior Associate will aid in the design, development, and delivery of the training and development curriculum through Pew University and organizational development activities. This person networks broadly with senior staff throughout the organization to create content that strengthens Pews culture and improves the efficiency and effectiveness of programmatic and operations work.

This Washington, DC-based position reports to the Manager, Talent Management and Development, and is eligible to telework up to 60% per month.


  • Advances the Pew Universitystrategy and curriculum through the management of program development, individual courses, and online coursework.

  • Manages Touchpoints, Pews approach to continuous and high-quality feedback, including delivering appropriate training, coordinating with the HRIS team, and identifying improvements to the Touchpoints process.

  • Analyzes existing training methods, tools, and technology; makes recommendations for maximizing existing resources; suggests the introduction of new tools and technology that align with the Pew University strategy and organizational need.

  • Provides the training subject matter expertise to designand implement effective programs; serves as a train-the-trainer when necessary.

  • Supports DEI training initiatives such as collaborating with TMD team members and Pews Diversity, Equity and Inclusion department to advance the organizations strategies by identifying and fulfilling learning and development opportunities for staff and managers.

  • Conducts training needs analysis forstaff and management; designs, develops, delivers, and evaluates trainingprograms to meet staff, management, and leadership needs.

  • Builds solid and thoughtful professional relationshipswith operations and program staff to better understand the work and needsof the workforce and the institution.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Instructional Systems Design, other relevant field, or equivalent experience required.

  • Generally, four plus years of relevant work experience in leadership development and/or talent management activities required with demonstrated time- and project-management skills.

  • Experience in the supportof curriculum assessment and operations of a corporate university preferred.

  • Minimum of three years of experience with active training presentation, facilitation, and managing multiple projects and programs preferred.

  • Proficient in using technology to track, analyze and report on data related to learning and talent management; experience with LMS and/or HRIS preferred.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while demonstrating a high level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism at all times.

  • Strong interpersonal skills. Experience working with organizational and interpersonal dynamics atvarious levels of the organization.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience with identifying and conveying key messages and/or key findings clearly and concisely.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred. Professional certifications such as APTD, CPTD, SHRM-CP, etc., a plus.


Occasional travel is anticipated for this position.
