Position Overview

The Senior Associate, Information Security Analyst, is a member of the Information Technology Department's Security office. The Analyst will work under direction and with guidance from other senior staff to perform various activities to support the goals of the team and Pew as a whole. This role requires an understanding of and enthusiasm for foundational information security principles. In addition to supporting the program, the person filling this role is expected to take on opportunities to expand their knowledge and role within the organization as needed.

The Information Security Analyst will support the team to ensure the security program's success as a whole.

This position is based in Pew's Washington, DC's office and will report to the Senior Manager, Information Security.


  • Triage incident tickets elevated to security team from Security Operations Center and escalate as necessary using existing SIEM and internal ticketing systems.
  • Assist with the ongoing development and deployment of security awareness training.
  • Assist with vendor risk assessment by updating vendor records, reviewing proposed mitigations, and generating reports.
  • Assist with internal risk assessments by gathering relevant data from affected teams, completing initial risk assessment forms, elevating for review and analysis, and generating reports.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert support for projects across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and protection program and policies by working with IT and project teams to create procedures, identify and document data inventories, and communicate security requirements for projects and systems.
  • In collaboration with cross-functional teams, develop and update procedure and process documents to ensure compliance with policies and standards. Review policy exception requests and ensure all necessary documentation is provided before escalating for approval and documenting in risk assessment tool.
  • Maintain and promote the vulnerability management program by generating reports, assisting teams with triage of findings, and escalating requests for exceptions as required.
  • Gather artifacts and generate reports in alignment with other organizational security and risk metrics as needed.
  • Support team in tasks as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in information technology
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Information Security preferred
  • 1 to 2 years information security experience preferred
  • Curious, continuous learner, creative problem-solver that is focused on secure outcomes instead of rigid adherence to frameworks.
  • High emotional intelligence; seeks first to understand then to be understood. Empathetic and collaborative.
  • Experience with SIEM, risk management, vendor risk, and/or cybersecurity awareness tools and processes desirable.
