The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Philadelphia is seeking a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting to be responsible for assisting with the timely and accurate preparation of the Board's financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting the selected candidate will also be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and internal control of treasury functions of the Board, the reconciliation and analysis of assigned accounts, preparing monthly written financial statement analyses, assisting with the preparation of annual financial statements and footnotes, and providing effective support and analysis during preliminary and annual audits of financial statements. You will also assist in the preparation of the monthly analysis of the Statement of Net Assets, the Statement of Changes in Net Assets, Administrative Expense fluctuations, and other accounts as assigned.

Specific Duties:

  • Updating cost allocation spreadsheets for actual, budget, and forecast, and is responsible for developing, maintaining, and overseeing cash management procedures, the line of credit agreement, and the cost/benefit analysis of treasury alternatives.
  • Developing forecasting methods and preparing forecasts of cash requirements to ensure the availability of cash to meet benefits and other financial obligations.
  • Preparing and analyzing inter- and intra- benefit program activity and recommending effective monthly cash transfers, reviewing the daily reporting of cash activity/needs, and communicating with banking relationships to ensure the timely and accurate investment of operating funds and accurate transfer between funds.
  • Assisting in administering the organization's business insurance programs, preparing the annual Accounting Policy deck for the Board of Directors, updating process and procedures narratives, and assisting in other financial research, analysis and report preparation as required.

The Ideal Candidate Possesses:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred and MBA desirable;
  • Two to four years of strong financial reporting and analysis experience with emphasis in public accounting or corporate accounting and financial reporting;
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and technical accounting competence with current accounting standards;
  • Demonstrated understanding of computerized general ledger accounting systems; knowledge of Lawson/Infor software a plus;
  • Demonstrated accountability to timely and accurate completion of position responsibilities;
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint is required;
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills;
  • Strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
