Job Description

PLEASE NOTE-This is NOT a Security Guard position. This position is responsible for the overall facility security program including processing new hire clearance requests and re-investigations through DISS. This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain an ACTIVE DoD SECRET Clearance.

Progeny Systems is seeking a highly motivated and well-organized individual with prior experience administering US government security policies and procedures to serve as a Security Coordinator in our Manassas, VA office. This position will be a part of the Manassas Security Team responsible for National Industrial Security Program Operation Manual (NISPOM) compliance and for the overall facility security program.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides daily functional support to the facilities personnel, physical, and information security requirements.
  • Assist FSO in preparation for and completion of annual inspections to ensure government compliance.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of changes in security rules and procedures.

Daily job duties include:
  • Receive, transfer, control and ship classified material for the facility.
  • Provide employees with security awareness education as required by the NISPOM and Corporate Security
  • Process visit requests, both incoming and outgoing for the facility.
  • Maintain and issue company badge access cards for the facility.
  • Respond to intrusion alarms as necessary.
  • Maintain facility and personnel information in JPAS/DISS and NISS.
  • Additional tasks as assigned


Skills/Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be aware of present-day security issues
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP)
  • Experience in JPAS and the e-QIP database system
  • Understanding of requirements for transfer of classified material
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Able to work independently and participate as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Well organized with ability to self-motivate, multi-task, and handle competing priorities and interruptions
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • SIMS experience a plus
  • General COMSEC Knowledge

Education/Experience
  • Successful candidates must have a minimum of 1 year security experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Business or a related field required.
  • Applicant must have or be eligible to obtain a DoD Security Clearance

This position requires the applicant to hold and maintain an ACTIVE DoD Security Clearance.

Physical and Mental Requirements for all positions:
Prolonged stationary periods at a desk
General ability to operate computer and other productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.
Ability to lift and transport up to 15 pounds at times
Effectively communicate with others
Ability to stay focused and provide attention to detail.
Ability to think analytically and apply problem solving skills to scenarios throughout the course of the workday
