OEC is currently accepting applications for Sales & Business Develop in our Fiber & Broadband department. This is a full-time position located at OEC headquarters in Norman, OK.

The Sales & Business Developer is responsible for promoting OEC Fiber product lines and securing orders from existing members and prospective subscribers through a relationship-based sales approach. This includes meeting sales goals to both commercial subscribers while driving sales and market share through effective strategy development, advertising campaigns, digital marketing, special events, and public relations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Establishes, develops, and maintains business relationships with existing members and prospective subscribers to generate new business.
    • Attends and participates in community events.
    • Represents OEC in organizations which pertain to the functions of the department and/or Cooperative or in which participation would be beneficial, promoting the member-owned, community-oriented functions of the Cooperative.
  • Works proactively to meet established sales goals.
    • Makes telephone calls, door-to-door sales, presentations, and other events.
  • Identifies and promotes the advantages of fiber products and services.
  • Researches sources for developing prospective subscribers and for information to determine their potential.
  • Analyzes the territory and market potential and determines the value of existing and prospective subscriber's value to the organization.
  • Identifies advantages and compares organization's products/services.
  • Keeps abreast of and analyzes product applications, technical services, industry best practices, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends.
  • Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for existing members and prospective subscribers with OEC Marketing team.
  • Supplies management with oral and written reports on member and subscriber needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
  • Monitors, reviews, and reports on marketing activities, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, monthly/annual sales activity, and activity and results reports, communicating regularly with management.
  • Resolves member and subscriber complaints by investigating problems and developing solutions in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with and coordinates sales efforts and other activities with Member Service, Marketing and Member Relations, Management, Accounting, Engineering, Construction, and technical service groups.
  • Works extensively with sales team to understand the sales process and member/subscriber needs.

Ideal candidates meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 1 year experience OR Associate's degree and 3 years' experience OR minimum of 5 years' experience
    • Experience should be of a progressively increasing responsibility in sales, marketing, or related field
    • Education should be in Business, Marketing,or related field
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Experience with Universal Service Schools and Libraries Program (E-Rate) preferred
  • Strong verbal and writing skills to provide effective presentations and proposals/contracts
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Basis computer skills
  • Working knowledge of Cooperative service model and principles preferred
  • Uses logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and approaches to problems; takes time to understand the points being made and asks questions as appropriate; honest and ethical; able to establish and maintain challenging goals; persistent; detail oriented
