Essential Job Function:
  • Assist the Director of Diverse Populations in providing programming that increases equity for all students at the college. Work with students, of various cultures, on a one-on-one basis to identify students' needs and concerns as well as engage students in student activities to assist in retention and identification of appropriate pathways.
  • Assist developmental instructors in implementing direct intervention to support learning that provides equity for student learning.
  • Maintain contact with students through phone calls, e-mails and face-to-face contacts.
  • Coordinate outreach to area high schools utilizing student mentors.
  • Connect students to appropriate college and/or community services and resources.
  • Track and monitor students' progress and systematically record the information in Banner.
  • Blend quantitative and qualitative data into an efficient gathering, reporting, and analysis process.
  • Conduct workshops and information sessions as needed.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the various services for students by various college offices and departments.

Additional Job Functions:
  • Assist Intentional Connections Coordinators with planning activities for Intentional Connections Learning Community students.
  • Track iConnect Center usage using the TutorTrac system.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships and communications with students, faculty, colleagues, administrators and staff.
  • Experience working in a professional setting with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Sensitivity to working in a multicultural setting is imperative.
  • Access and document student files and ensure privacy of information.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading, Mathematics, ESOL, Sociology, English, Psychology, Counseling , Social Work, or related field

Required Experience:
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively, be flexible and adaptable in a changing work environment.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience working with minority and first generation college students
  • Previous experience teaching developmental classes (student success, mathematics, writing, reading, integrated reading, writing, or ESOL).
  • Experience working with a variety of computer software such as Microsoft Office, Banner and Outlook to compose and prepare a variety of correspondence, report and other materials.





Salary Grade: 21
