Provides back-up support to the Retail Branch Manager and assists in the smooth, efficient operation of the retail branch such as supervising Universal Bankers and Tellers; developing new customer relationships and expanding on existing relationships by effective sales and service; cross selling of the Banks product and services to customers and prospective customers. Actively participates in community events with the Retail Branch Manager to increase the Banks visibility and to enhance new and existing business opportunities, accepting loan applications, both retail and business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Retail Branch Manager in leading the branch personnel in the achievement of growth, sales targets, profitability, customer retention objectives and leading the branch team to meet/exceed incentive goals.
  • Provide back up support to the Retail Branch Manager to ensure adequate coverage, efficient service and smooth branch operation. Learn all aspects of retail branch management by assisting and observing the Retail Branch Manager in the performance of essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Provide personalized banking services to current and prospective customers, consistently seeking to expand customer relationships and provide the highest level of quality customer service.
  • Assess customer needs and recommend/sell appropriate bank products and services.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to Universal Bankers, Teller staff and other branch personnel in the performance of their duties and responsibilities. Assist in the on-going coaching and counseling of Universal Bankers, Teller staff and other branch personnel to facilitate employee development.
  • Participate with Retail Branch Manager on personnel issues, corrective action, including recruiting, hiring, scheduling and performance management. Actively participates in the preparation and administering of performance evaluations.
  • Travel throughout branch network as required ensuring adequate branch coverage.
  • Open new accounts.
  • Assist prospective borrowers; act as main point of contact during loan underwriting process, prepare loan payoff statements and close loans.
  • Prepare account loans.
  • Public Relations: Actively participates in community events to increase the Banks visibility and garner new banking relationships.
  • Initiate and confirm wires.
  • Take business loan applications, gather all necessary documents for underwriting, act as main point of contact during loan underwriting process and close business loans.
  • Other duties assigned by Bank management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Exceptional customer service abilities and effective inter-personal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a sales environment, meet/exceed performance goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a team and act in a leadership capacity.
  • Working knowledge of branch operations and banking regulations.
  • Expertise interfacing with multiple departments and personnel at various levels.
  • Working knowledge of banking software and/or ability to be trained and quickly learn. Proficient in teller system to be able to support the teller line. Working knowledge of bank products and services and/or ability to be trained and quickly learn.
  • Ability to cold call externally to garner new business and personal relationships to the Bank. At first joint calling with the Retail Branch Manager and /or other Bank partners and eventually on your own. All of this in an effort to grow your branch and gain more wallet share in your market place.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years customer service experience in a banking or financial institution environment.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • High school diploma or GED with additional coursework or training in banking.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Working conditions are those of an open office environment, which can require the ability to manage some stress such as noise level from customers, employees and general office equipment, etc. Daily use of wrists, hands, and fingers: to use computer, telephone, fax, copier, coin machine and general office equipment. Ability to hear and speak clearly for gathering simple to complex information from both customers and co-workers. Sitting for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours), standing and walking up to 20% of work time. Ability to bend and lift coin boxes and bags, up to approximately 30lbs. Ability to operate a motor vehicle for travel within and outside of branch network.
