Position SummaryStudy role of Vacuolar ATPase in cancer drug resistance and tumorigenesis
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- As part of a group of scholars studying drug resistance and tumorigenesis, conduct independent research projects which contribute to the group's studies.
- Unsupervised planning, execution, data collection, analyses, and preparation of
- manuscripts are expected.
- Conduct the following specific research projects independently:
- Generate tumors in mice, collect and analyze biological samples.
- Perform molecular biology assays including preparation DNA, RNA , cloning, real-time-
- PCR, expression and purification of recombinant proteins, plasmids, Western blots,
- ELISA, immuno-histochemistry, immunofluorescence microscopy.
- Carry out experiments in cell and molecular biology, maintain mammalian cell cultures.
- Place orders and supervise day-to-day lab operation.
- Supervise graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research technicians.
Required Education & Experience Ph.D. degree in immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, or related field
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Knowledge about computer ap plications such as Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Excellent English reading, writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collect and analyze data.
- Ability to work independently and a s a team.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including ability set priorities and excellent
- time management skills.
- Ability to work productively with diverse populations; show respect and sensitivity for
- cultural differences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years of postdoctoral research experience in the following areas: Immunological and molecular biological techniques such as DNA and RNA preparations, DNA and cDNA cloning, DNA-polymerase chain reactions, reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction, real-time PCR, eukaryotic gene expression, transfection procedures, signal pathways, protein purification, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, tissue culture, tumor generation and handling.
