What Were Looking For

Were seeking a full-time research analyst to contribute to multiple research projects. The work will primarily entail data management, preparation, and analysis, including data coding, cleaning, quality assurance, and entry tasks. It will also involve dataset restructuring, analyses (both quantitative and qualitative), and quality assurance. In addition, the work may also involve literature searches and assisting with end products that convey our findingscreating tables, graphs, or other data visualizations; proofreading and conducting other editorial tasks; and assisting with the preparation of presentation materials, reports, and briefs. Were looking for someone who communicates well and who works well both independently and as part of a team.

The demands of this job change rapidly; we need someone who can move from one project and type of work to another. This means that in any given day, you may work on a research report for one project, data cleaning for another, and final data visualizations for another.

Responsibilities

  • Data manipulation and cleaning and preparation of files for analysis
  • Writing syntax/code for ongoing manipulations to large datasets
  • Data analysis basic and complex with supervision/assistance
  • Assisting with the preparation of reports, briefs, and presentations
  • Managing and creating data, analysis, and other project documentation
  • Conducting quality assurance on data set preparation, analysis, and presentation of findings
  • Assisting with data collection activities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required with 4 years minimum experience in social science or related field
  • Experience with data management and statistical software (R and/or SPSS syntax preferred)
  • Good communication, organizational, and writing skills
  • Experience conducting literature searches and reviews
  • Experience with productivity software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of data analysis and research methods
  • Experience creating data visualizations
  • Ability to learn additional software and applications such as those used for web conferencing and online meetings, and for managing and storing project schedules, information, and materials
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Perform additional duties, as assigned

Desired Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience commensurate with a masters degree in a social science

Hours

Full-time, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week

Location

This is a remote position with an option to work from our Cambridge, MA office, which is accessible by public transportation. HSRI does not permit remote work arrangements based in California, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and other international countries. Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.

Additional Information

We are open to filling this position with a paid internship/fellowship for a graduate student if terms are discussed and agreed upon.

Salary Range

$49,400 $79,000

Pay is commensurate with skills and experience.
