Responsibilities: - Has primary responsibility for regional sales activities and results
- Leads a sales force through District Sales Managers (DMs). Primary regional leadership role with responsibility for achieving/exceeding sales goal by:
- Setting strategic vision
- Effectively coaching, motivating, hiring and retaining the right people and holding them accountable for delivering results
Specific Requirements: - Meet or exceed sales goals
- Demonstrate effective leadership - coach, motivate, hire and retain top talent and hold them accountable for delivering results
- Set strategic direction and vision - effectively translate and align brand strategies with overall team direction and vision
- Effectively leverage and partner with Amgen's internal and external resources to help remove barriers impacting team's success
- Serve as key interface with senior sales management and marketing
- Manage team of DMs to maximize performance and conduct business in line with Amgen's compliance and Business Conduct Standards.
- Lead and manage regional teams to maximize performance
- Set and maintain high standards and accountability for results for regional staff
- Provide professional staff development and succession planning
- Conduct annual and on-going performance reviews and competency assessments
- Implement corrective counseling when necessary
- Communicate business issues and opportunities on an ongoing basis to senior management; participate in the formulation of brand strategic plans and vision setting; assist in policy formulation and interpret policy and programs for direct reports
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers
Basic Qualifications: Doctorate degree & 4 years Sales/Marketing experience
OR
Master's degree & 8 years of Sales/Marketing years
OR
Bachelor's degree & 10 years of Sales/Marketing experience
AND
4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Preferred Qualifications: - 10+ years of pharmaceutical / biotech product sales experience including 5+ years sales management experience
- Senior Sales Management experience
- Advanced degree
- Home office and/or marketing experience
- Experience in biologics
