About the position

We are looking for a Regional Safety Manager who will be responsible for the design, upkeep and ongoing improvement of appropriate local safety management arrangements, and for facilitating their effective implementation. Lastly, to collaborate and contribute with the global safety teams and initiatives respectively.

The role also supports the development, implementation, training and testing of resiliency plans for critical sites in the region.

This role does not involve the direct provision or management of occupational health services but does have a strong interface with this discipline.

  • Implement global workplace security strategic objectives. Devise, maintain and embed safety management arrangements that are fit for purpose, achieve OUPs policy and secure ownership and accountability at all levels.
  • Provide professional guidance, advice and support to colleagues, including senior managers, to enable them to fulfil their health and safety roles and responsibilities. This includes building their capabilities and confidence to manage safety risks, identifying training needs and providing effective delivery solutions.
  • Establish and maintain meaningful assurance and reporting mechanisms that fulfil global safety requirements as well as aid local senior management and contribute to building a culture that delivers continuous safety performance improvement.
  • Ensure sites have robust emergency response and incident management arrangements. Support investigations: analyse incident data and act on any wider lessons learnt as appropriate. Support any statutory reporting requirements in conjunction with Group Legal.
  • Manage, safety related awareness training of all employees covering good practices to compliance aspects.
  • Maintain records and submit reports as required for legal and internal compliance purposes.
  • Create and maintain appropriate safety information resources on Oxford Share, that are easy for colleagues to access, use and understand.
  • Keep professional knowledge and skills up to date in relation to matters associated with the Presss risk profile.
  • Support the global work of Group Safety.

About you:
  • Appropriate professional qualification.
  • Membership of a recognised professional safety body.
  • Significant relevant safety experience, including computer workstation ergonomics in offices and homeworking setups and of supporting safety in an estates/facilities management environment.
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant requirements, guidance and good practices.
  • Ability to drive improvements through building productive relationships and engaging, influencing and collaborating with people at all levels.
  • A practical and proportionate risk-based approach to safety management.
  • Computer literate.
  • Able to work effectively, both independently and as part of a small dispersed global team.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally or as per the business needs. (post-COVID).
  • Strong administration, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Ensure Safety related resiliency plans remain in ready to use state.
  • Proficient in English
