Overview

Were looking for a hands-on Quality Systems Administrator/ Environmental Health & Safety Administrator with problem solving skills to work in our collaborative manufacturing team environment. While reporting to the VP of Operations, youll provide manufacturing quality assessments and safety support to our ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facility in Milpitas, CA, which manufactures customer specific permanent instrument detection systems. In this role, you will develop and implement work standards, aid in streamlining processes to improve production efficiency, and help maintain and drive the MSA safety, environmental and medical management program across the organization. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all safety training programs, including CPR, First Aid, Emergency Preparedness, Hazard Communication, Injury and Illness Prevention.
  • Maintain all safety files, including all safety records according to government regulations and internal policies.
  • Keep abreast of current developments in safety training, safety and accident prevention programs.
  • Work closely with HR regarding accident investigation and maintenance of Cal-OSHA Logs and record keeping.
  • Coordinate/conduct monthly safety meetings with operations personnel. Report safety program status to management team .
  • Initiate, help lead, participate, and provide training (problem solving, work flexing, etc.) required to effectively complete improvement efforts.
  • Partner with production team to sustain improvements.
  • Participate in MSA Operating System activities that include daily communication meetings, department performance monitoring and problem solving.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals in all organizational levels, both internally and externally to the plant.
  • Work with all departments/facilities to develop general safety policies and procedures including JSAs and SOPs in compliance with company policy and local, state and federal regulations, including Cal OSHA. Consult with all departments in regards to safety training requirements and determining potential work related hazards.
  • Coordinate and conduct facility inspections. Partner with the incoming inspection department to create quality plans. Keep all employees alerted to the hazards of the job and working environment.
  • Provide direction in implementing Incoming Inspection plans, First Article Inspection, In Process and Final Product Inspection, Sampling Plans, inspection and test acceptance criteria, and resolve nonconformances.
  • Perform vendor audits and qualifications.
  • Inspect and validate critical processes to ensure alignment with established ISO policies and procedures. Resolve cross-functional issues (e.g., yield improvement, cost-reduction, ISO certification, or supplier quality improvement).
  • Participate as a member of the internal ISO audit team.
  • Define supplier quality specifications, sampling plans and supplier qualification
  • Generate and follow through on any internal corrective actions to resolve quality issues within our assembly or test process.
  • Administer our Salesforce based PLM system, Propel.

Qualifications

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Quality or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited program.

Required Work Experience:

This position is available at two different career levels based upon experience and education:

o Level one (Staff I): no experience required

o Level two (Staff II): 2 years of quality, manufacturing or industrial engineering experience.

Preferred Work Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of the MSA Operating System (Value Stream Mapping, One Piece Flow, Setup Reduction, Lean Management, Visual Controls, etc.).
  • Six Sigma, kaizen and project management experience.
  • Experience with SAP, MS Project, Salesforce applications.
  • Working knowledge and experience in an ISO 9000 environment.
  • Understanding of complex flow systems and/or gas detection systems.
