About the role

The Associate Publicist will handle all aspects of publicity for select Oxford University Presss titles trade catalog titles, including coordinating and securing national/regional/local publicity for assigned titles; work directly with authors and media regarding publicity; and be responsible for creating and executing publicity campaigns. The Associate Publicist also supports department-wide projects, such as monitoring the departments publicity inboxes, responding to calls for information from trade media outlets, and other duties as assigned.
  1. Manage book campaigns from beginning to end, including booking one-off events, radio, podcast, and television interviews, pitching for reviews and interviews both in print and online.
  2. Communicate with authors, editorial and marketing staff about publicity achieved and reporting on individual titles at marketing meetings.
  3. Identify the best and most appropriate audience for assigned titles and compiling media lists accordingly, pitching books and authors to all appropriate venues.
  4. Maintain and foster media contacts through research relationship building.
  5. Research and write press releases, pitch letters, and other publicity materials.
  6. Work with the Publicity Manager to plan publicity campaigns.
  7. Work with Publicity Manager to manage individual campaign budgets.

About you
  • Previous publicity experience.
  • Creative, enthusiastic and energetic attitude
  • Familiarity with key media outlets
  • Confident dealing with the media and authors, being able to communicate effectively
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

This position can be located in Cary, NC, New York and Sunderland, MA
