Protein Technology Group LeaderLiveWhat you will do Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role you will lead our emerging protein expression and purification group in Thousand Oaks, California. The IPP is charged with developing Amgen's newest drug modality aimed at Targeted Protein Degradation, including discovery of PROTACs.
- The Principle Scientist will be responsible for building a multidisciplinary team in charge of designing, planning and executing on the generation of key enabling reagents to support early discovery of Targeted Protein Degradation drugs.
- This includes the molecular engineering, cloning, expression and purification of proteins. The candidate will also work closely with our Protein Technology group.
- The ideal candidate will have broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment along with a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for taking on difficult research challenges.

Basic qualificationsDoctorate Degree OR
Master's degree and 3 years of related scientific experience OR
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related scientific experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Industry experience in Protein Technology with 5+ years of experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead an independent group of scientists
- Proven skills culturing E. coli and insect cells
- Detailed knowledge in recombinant protein purification (including affinity, ion exchange, HIC, SEC) and methods development
- Biochemistry analytical experience (SDS PAGE, Western Blot, HPLC, Mass Spectrometry)
- Familiarity with chromatography hardware and software (GE AKTA, Agilent HPLC)
- Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated scientific analysis and problem-solving skills as evidenced in peer review publications.
