Advocates for Human Potential (AHP) is looking for an experienced proposal management professional to support AHP's new business development efforts. Under the supervision of the Director, New Business the Proposal Manager manages and oversees all proposal activities, including directing proposal personnel, developing proposal outline and compliance matrix, managing proposal schedules and deadlines, ensuring timely completion of proposals, writing and/or editing proposal sections; also develops and manages additional New Business projects.

AHP is a research and consulting firm specializing in providing consultative services to a broad range of federal, state, local, and community-based agencies. AHP provides evaluation, technical assistance, and consultation to translate knowledge and experience into practical strategies that transform systems and change lives. Our core content areas include public health; behavioral health policy; mental health and substance use services including prevention, treatment, and recovery supports; trauma; criminal justice; housing and homelessness; e-health; and workforce development.

What you will be doing

Proposal Management

  • Scheduling and facilitating proposal meetings including kick-offs, reviews, and debriefs.
  • Setting up and maintaining proposal SharePoint site, including providing access to partners as necessary.
  • Creating and reviewing a proposal outline.
  • Assisting in analyzing the RFP/bid requirements against the proposal outline to ensure both compliance and responsiveness.
  • Reviewing proposal sections to ensure requirements are adequately addressed and within page limits.
  • Conducting regular proposal progress status meetings and maintaining the proposal schedule.
  • Facilitating writing/editing/rewriting efforts, including some writing, and editing, as needed.
  • Producing proposals, including ensuring proper formatting and copy editing are completed.
  • Improving existing tools and processes for proposal development and assisting to train AHP staff on these augmented tools and methodologies.
  • Working across all business units to develop proposals and enhance other New Business activities.

Other reasonable and normal duties associated with the New Business unit including, but not limited to:

  • Conducting capture and market research to support the development of new business opportunities, either related to proposals/potential proposals or strategic initiatives.
  • Maintaining and enhancing the New Business SharePoint site.
  • Maintaining and enhancing the proposal boilerplate library.
  • Maintaining and updating project descriptions for use in proposals and other New Business efforts.
  • Managing annual updating of resumes, company-wide.

  • Superior technical, writing, and research skills.
  • Capacity to develop and prepare winning proposals in response to federal, state, municipality, and foundation solicitations.
  • Capacity to develop and prepare winning sales proposals.
  • Ability to quickly pick up on business priorities and organizational processes.
  • Ability to collaborate across the company on projects and new business development efforts.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with colleagues, building constructive and effective relationships.
  • Adeptness in assigning responsibility for tasks and decisions and the capability to set clear objectives and measures.
  • Aptitude to organize and prioritize work while juggling multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in marshaling resources to get things done.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint.
  • Excellent communication skillswritten and verbal.
  • Willingness and ability to work extra and/or unusual hours during crunch periods.
