LPA is seeking a passionate Project Services Specialist (formerly Entitlements Specialist) to join our integrated team of architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects and master planners, in our education practice. As a key participant in our uniquely collaborative design process, you will work hand in hand with clients and colleagues across disciplines on a wide variety of innovative, sustainable pre-K12, community college and university education projects, supporting and guiding teams and clients in the processing of projects through the appropriate Agencies Having Jurisdiction (AHJ's) from initial application through completion of construction and closeout. You will be an integral member of the team that delivers award-winning projects that aim to have a positive and enduring environmental, economic, and social impact.

Project Services Specialist Experience:

  • 0-1 years of experience in all phases of the public municipal agency planning, discretionary approvals, plan check, and permit process (private K12 school and Higher Education projects)
  • 1 year-minimum experience with Division of the State Architect plan submittal, approval, construction, and certification process (public K12 school district, community college, and California State University projects)
  • California State Fire Marshall experience preferred
  • University of California project experience preferred

Project Services Specialist Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university, preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Teams
  • Experience with Bluebeam Studio
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for client-centered service
  • Eagerness to learn and assume increased responsibilities
  • Valid CA driver's license and CA registered vehicle

What you will Own:

  • The collection, review, and processing of plans and required paperwork to secure plan check approval and permits with the appropriate Agencies Having Jurisdiction (AHJ's), (primarily the Division of the State Architect's (DSA) office)
  • The logging, tracking, and maintenance of accurate records of project status throughout the lifespan of project(s)
  • Performing detailed research to identify project submittal requirements, including discretionary approval process where applicable for new projects
  • A proactive approach to obtain permit approvals effectively and efficiently through various agencies
  • Coordinating and communicating with clients, project teams, and agency officials to support all project approval processes

  • The development of internal processes for effective and efficient plan preparation and coordination.
  • Support the broader goals of the Education practice to grow, obtain new work, develop new client, agency, and organizational relationships.

  • Agency processes, and the monitoring of changes and evolutions in agency processes, and the communication of those changes to project teams (ongoing internal education).
  • Bluebeam Studio (proficiency required to effectively perform job tasks).

What you will Improve:

  • Consistency of the internal process for development of plans to meet agency requirements (quality assurance + control).
  • A process and platform for sharing project status reports to clients and project teams.
