The Project Accountant is a key business partner for the project management team and upper management in providing financial analysis of project performance and identifying areas needing corrective action to ensure profitability and operational efficiencies.

  • Coordinate with Project Managers (PMs) to analyze project costs and ensure timely and accurate processing
  • Ensure accurate project cost accruals; reconcile project accruals and accounts payable with project reports, vendor invoices, and statements
  • Ensure project revenue budgets agree with customer contracts/purchase orders and monthly cost forecasts reflect reasonable and accurate estimates to complete
  • Review revenue budgets and cost estimates for major projects; report significant swings and quantify impacts on overall progress and costs to complete
  • Assist PMs in monitoring and understanding cost variances
  • Ensure that project revenue recognition follows company policies
  • Prepare and process journal entries and reconcile key general ledger accounts
  • Establish and maintain open communications with PMs, Engineers, Buyers, Site Managers, and other Operations personnel to maintain a good understanding of project issues and transactions
  • Update monthly forecasts for revenue, gross margin, and cash flow
  • Assist the Business Controller and other accounting and finance team members as needed

  • Minimal

  • 1 to 3 years project/contract accounting experience
  • Knowledge and experience in cost accounting, budgeting, and account reconciliation and analysis
  • Experience with SAP preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated expertise with Excel and data export and analysis tools
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with management and operations personnel
  • Highly organized, thorough in completion of tasks, and ability to prioritize effectively
  • Analytical skills with attention to detail

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
