Principal ScientistThe department of pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism (PKDM) within Amgen Research is dedicated to the discovery and development of novel, effective, safe medicines. The successful candidate will work in a team environment to characterize the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and pharmacokinetic properties of therapeutic drug candidates to achieve their full pharmacological potential. PKDM works in close partnership with disciplines such as pharmacology, protein sciences, medicinal chemistry, toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology and regulatory to design promising clinical therapeutic candidates, conduct preclinical development studies, support clinical evaluation and contribute to IND and NDA filings.

The responsibilities of a PKDM Principal Scientist are to develop staff, lead scientific strategy across the PKDM department, and build relationship across functions within the larger Research organization. The role will require data interpretation, communication of results, and contribution to decision making on project teams as PKDM representative in support of drug discovery and development. In addition, there are opportunities and expectations to impact the external scientific community.
WinWhat we expect of youThis role requires an excellent understanding of preclinical ADME across drug modalities (e.g. monoclonal antibodies, bi-specifics, RNAi and small molecules) and the factors influencing drug disposition, as well as an individual that can work collaboratively in a highly collaborative, matrixed team environment.
Basic Qualifications Doctorate degree and 4 years of pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism experience
OrMaster's degree and 7 years of pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism experience
OrBachelor's degree and 10 years of pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism experience
Preferred qualifications:PhD or MS in biochemistry, immunology, biophysics, or equivalent
4+ years of protein therapeutics drug discovery and development experience in biotech industry, basic understanding of protein therapeutics pharmacokinetics
Expertise in multi-specific drug targeting modalities
