Job DescriptionProgeny has an opening for a Senior System Engineer in Manassas, Virginia or Middletown RI locations. The selected candidate will join a highly talented team responsible for developing the state of the art Payload Control System (PCS) for both the U.S. and Australian Submarine Navies. The team is responsible for the system engineering and functional design of the system under development, addressing topics such as payload integration, weapon launch interlocks, message exchanges, user interfaces, and cybersecurity. As a member of the system engineering team, the candidate will focus on ensuring the system design and implementation complies with all applicable safety standards.
While this position will mostly have regular business hours, some compensated overtime hours and travel will be required.
When completing your application- please indicate which location is preferred.Duties and Responsibilities From a system safety perspective:
- Coordinate with other contractor and Navy activities for any potential requirements changes that could impact the PCS design, or are being considered as a future capability
- Author new system engineering documentation
- Participate in various technical and program meetings on a weekly basis
- Support the Development, Test, Safety and Logistics teams for any questions of issues associated with requirements development
- Communicate project/program issues to management, as necessary
- Review various weapon/payload interface design specifications
- Support various weapon/payload coordination and demo events
- Attend various technical working groups as required for interfaces, subsystems and component reviews associated with the PCS program
- Prepare and present review packages for the SSSTRP and WSERB panels
Skills/RequirementsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with weapon systems and system safety concepts is required
US Navy submarine experience is a plus
Education/Experience B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, System Engineering or a minimum of 10 years engineering experience, or recent directly relevant experience with Submarine Combat Control Weapon System experience and MIL-STD-882E or JSSEH is required.
This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.Physical and Mental Requirements for all positions:

General ability to operate computer and other productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.
Ability to lift and transport up to 15 pounds at times
Effectively communicate with others
