Under the direction of the Director of Partnership, the Partnership Development Manager is a relationship-based position that focuses on developing connections with local small businesses, with an emphasis on minority-owned businesses, to help extend the benefit of the hospitality and tourism economy to the neighborhoods throughout the entire city of Minneapolis.


This position has no direct reports.


  • External Functions
    • Expand Meet Minneapolis partnership market penetration among tourism and hospitality business industries, with a focus on small business and ownership reflecting traditionally underserved or underrepresented populations
    • Recruit partners in diverse categories to become new partners through outreach, prospecting, and face-to-face meetings to achieve quarterly new partner goal
    • Participate in appropriate business-to-business and community functions to cultivate leads and nurture collaborative and positive relationships with industry partners
    • Advocate passionately on behalf of the Meet Minneapolis brand, extending the organizations external messaging by representing the organization in the community.
  • Internal Functions
    • Implement and manage an accurate tracking of partnership leads and other sales related activity in customer relationship management database and respective pipeline management tools
    • Provide exceptional customer service, as this role is often the main point of contact for current and prospective partners
    • Successfully manage assigned active partner account list to ensure positive impact on annual partnership renewal rate, a Key Performance Indicator for the organization
    • Participate in the creation, development and implementation of programs, projects and special events for membership to achieve partnership retention goal
    • Work collaboratively with other team members to coordinate selling efforts and capitalize on opportunities
  • Events and Management
    • Manage the recruitment for and execution of prospective partner networking and/or educational events
    • Assist with the production of membership marketing materials
    • Review and recommend enhancements to membership opportunities, fees, services, and benefits
  • Other duties, as assigned


  • Two years (minimum) relationship-based or consultative selling experience
  • CRM software familiarity
  • Customer service, contract development and negotiation experience preferred


  • Excellent communication and listening abilities, with personal drive to identify, cultivate, and grow valuable community relationships to impact the bottom line
  • Demonstrate a collaborative and flexible style, strong service mentality and a passion for the organizations mission, vision and values
  • Results driven and experienced in relationship-based sales and business development, including prospecting, presenting, and closing skills
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple activities and responsibilities with concurrent timelines
  • Willing and able to work non-traditional office hours based on client prospecting and support requirements, including travel within a limited geographical region
  • Enthusiastically embraces new technologies
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel) and database programs
