Job Description:

As part of the Fulbright Outreach and Recruitment Team, the Outreach & Communications Officer, Fulbright will focus on developing engaging website, blog, and social media content; executing publicity campaigns; and developing reports. The Outreach & Communications Officer assists with development of digital communications plans and works collaboratively with other members of the Outreach and Recruitment team at IIE and the U.S. Department of State (ECA) to promote the Fulbright Program to a wider audience.

Essential Functions:

  • With the guidance of the Team Lead and Communications Specialist, responsible for researching and writing content for Fulbright's social media platforms. Prepares written content, articles, news releases, project descriptions, blog posts, social media posts and internal communications. Assists in the planning, development, and design of digital and print outreach materials.
  • Ensures accurate use of brand language for social media and other written materials.
  • Assists with executing publicity campaigns, virtual Fulbright alumni speaker series, and other communications initiatives.
  • Prepares and edits written content, including:
    • Social media/website
    • Monthly Fulbright Newsletter
    • Social media toolkits
  • Assists with project managing Google Ads for recruitment and branding purposes.
  • Utilizes social listening platforms and prepares monthly impact reports.
  • Assists in the planning, research, development, and design of social media campaigns with Fulbright partner organizations.
  • Represents IIE/Fulbright to and interacts with representatives from higher education institutions, scholarly associations, and other external constituencies.
  • Collaborates with team in implementing recruitment and general outreach strategy for Fulbright.
  • Monitors and compiles Fulbright-related social media stories and users.
  • Contributes to the organization and project management of processes related to the development program materials, such as advertisements, promotional videos, digital and physical flyers, etc.
  • Interacts with press, institutions of higher education, scholarly associations and, as needed, other external constituencies, to professionally represent IIE. Liaises with the general public and pre-applicants via a variety of social media platforms. Monitors press inbox and escalates media inquiries as appropriate.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in order to apply a working knowledge of the theories and principles in a specialized field or work discipline.
  • Requires at least two (2) years of related work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Three (3) years of relevant professional work experience to strongly preferred.
  • Superior writing, proofreading, and editorial skills, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with a focus on writing for the web. Highly proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Copywriting experience, with a focus on digital and social media and creating content for web.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain effective business relationships across multiple departments.
  • In-depth knowledge of search engines operations and interpreting web analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of and experience with social media for an organization/program.
  • Familiarity with online platforms for web creation and development.
  • Ability to organize and handle a large volume of work under time constraints and pressure.
  • Exhibits high degree of flexibility when receiving feedback from multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of and experience with digital marketing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, Adobe CC, and/or Sprout Social a plus.
  • Experience with video editing or project management of video projects a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with cross-cultural communications is a plus.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

Essential functions are performed in a general office setting with low noise.
