Job Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Organic Chemistry Laboratory Instructor position. The Organic Chemistry Laboratory Instructor is a full-time, 10-month term position. Given Amherst's distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.
The Organic Chemistry Laboratory Instructor supports the teaching mission of the Chemistry Department through implementation of hands-on learning in the organic chemistry teaching laboratory. Primary responsibility will be the teaching of laboratories for the first- and second-semester organic chemistry courses (CHEM-221 and CHEM-231) that are offered every semester to a highly diverse group of students. Additional responsibilities may include the teaching of discussion sections, the holding of office hours and assisting in the grading of homework, quizzes, and exams in those courses.
