Job Description:

The KAUST Gifted Student Program (KGSP) is a prestigious scholarship program sponsored by the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) for STEM students from Saudi Arabia pursuing undergraduate degrees at top institutions in the United States. Annually, IIE welcomes a cohort of 120-140 new students into the KGSP and prepares them for arrival to the United States and the start of academic programs.
Reporting to the Senior Advising Manager and working in collaboration with the Onboarding Lead, the Onboarding Advisor designs and implements a robust communications strategy to welcome and orient new KGSP students, utilizing a variety of communications tools as well as preparing content for virtual and in-person events. The Onboarding Advisor is the first point of contact for new students, and this role interfaces extensively with incoming undergraduate and pre-college students, providing information regarding KGSP policies and scholarship expectations, student immigration and enrollment requirements, housing, insurance, financial sponsorship benefits, and advice for navigating anticipated programmatic components including preparation of applications for undergraduate university admission.
The Onboarding Advisor may oversee institutional outreach to university partners for the purpose of student enrollment and immigration authorization, may develop and prepare program reporting related to new student onboarding, and may liaise with the program Sponsor in the design of content for annual KGSP events, including the Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) on the KAUST campus and arrival orientations at US host universities. The Onboarding Advisor may travel overseas to KAUST in Thuwal, Saudia Arabia for up to three weeks during the summer for the PDO event and may travel domestically to meet new student arrivals at airports to facilitate a successful transition to the United States.

Essential Functions:
Advise the new cohort of pre-college and undergraduate students on KGSP scholarship policies and procedures
Develop and maintain an annual onboarding communications plan that incorporates group and targeted email communication, webinars, and in-person programming. Coordinate deployment of communications plan with assigned members of the Advising and Events teams as necessary.
Monitor, analyze, and report on the impact of the communications and social media strategy, to optimize impact and performance.
Support Onboarding Lead in data management and reporting requirements for Onboarding project. Maintain accurate student files in IIE's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Create lists, verify data, and collaborate with Program Reports team to establish best practices for record maintenance and data quality control.
Under supervision of Senior Advising Manager, analyze student data and outcomes related to the onboarding project and create outcomes-focused reporting for use in sponsor reports, new advising initiatives, and other external communication.
Create a variety of different content to support communications and marketing efforts, including newsletters, presentations, and website copy
Lead in the planning and implementation of regional and global events in the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including new student orientations.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in order to apply a working knowledge of the theories and principles in a specialized field or work discipline.
Requires at least five years of related work experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Strong understanding of international participants and ability to manage cultural and counseling issues
In-depth knowledge of assessment, training, and advising tools
Strong project management, time management, and administrative skills;
Strong interest and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to exercise discretion on confidential matters
Ability to interact with all levels of staff and clients and make evidence-based recommendations on complex cases to Program leaders.
Highly specialized experience in international student advising and/or STEM student advising preferred
