Key Accountabilities

  • Be a Keeper of the Home. Be responsible for creating an atmosphere in memory care that is inviting, comfortable, homelike, and tidy in all apartments and common area spaces.
  • Be a Mealtime Maven. Be present in the dining room to prepare and serve family-style dining, guiding the residents to be a part of their own experience by setting the tables and cleaning up together after as a family.
  • Be a Snack Specialist. Be responsible to ensure all residents are guided to snacks and hydration three times a day.
  • Be a Caring Connector. Be extra hands in the Neighborhood to engage residents and provide meaningful experiences.

Duties

This position description is designated to outline primary duties, qualifications, and job scope, but not limit the individual or the organization to just the work identified. It is our expectation that each employee will offer his/her services wherever and whenever necessary to ensure the success of our endeavors.

  • Create an environment that ensures those with Alzheimer's and dementia live to their fullest potential.
  • Present a professional demeanor that communicates a corporate philosophy of service, goodwill, and genuine interest in each resident's needs.
  • Familiarize yourself with residents of memory care, including each resident's name, interests, hobbies, and food and beverage preferences.
  • Maintain inventory of dishes, condiments, snacks, beverages, and cleaning supplies in the kitchen.
  • Properly clean and sanitize kitchen in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Maintain Culinary logs.
  • Ensure proper food storage and handling procedures are utilized.
  • Plate or platter food that is provided by main kitchen to serve to residents.
  • Clean and reset dining room after meals, including washing dishes and sweeping dining room floor.
  • Clean resident rooms and common areas promptly, in accordance with cleaning schedule that is provided by the Memory Care Director.
  • Report any health, safety, and/or sanitation concerns to the Memory Care Director.
  • When called upon, participate in care planning and other meetings, formal and informal.
  • Review residents' profiles and Individual Service Plans for modified diet needs.
  • Utilize and contributes to the resident engagement plans.
  • Ensure that Arrow programming is being followed, including daily events, hand hygiene, snacks, and hydration.
  • Lead group activities according to daily calendar of events when requested.
  • Participate in company-wide initiatives.
  • Partner with community team to ensure that the memory care neighborhood is in compliance and adhere to all safety rules and regulations, including OSHA requirements and Risk Management programs and policies.
  • Report all accidents and incidents immediately.
  • Welcome families and visitors and ensure they receive exceptional service, which is reflected in wording, tone, body language, and written correspondence.
  • Attend all required training sessions and meetings.
  • Complete all tasks, including cleaning, as assigned by the Memory Care Director.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Shall have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional in appearance and conduct.
  • Must be criminally cleared.
  • Be in good health and physically and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks. Good physical health and free from tuberculosis. Must have a health screening performed by a physician not more than thirty (30) days prior to or seven (7) days following employment.
  • Must have dependable transportation and be able to work varying hours as needed.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person and through written correspondence and navigate visually. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. This position also requires employee to be able to retrieve items from storage, including overhead bins or cabinets. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to and over 50 pounds and must be able to assist residents with sitting, standing and walking, as well as assisting persons after a fall. The job functions are primarily indoors, but employee may be required to work outside for events, transportation, or assisting residents to and from vehicles.
