Position Summary

The Department of Microbiology & Immunology -Clinical Immunology Laboratory in the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science invites applications for a full-time Medical Technologist II position. The Medical Technologist II will perform clinical testing in laboratory areas including immunological assays such as ELISA, fluorescent microscopy, flow cytometry, tissue typing, molecular assays and lymphocyte preparation under sterile conditions in the laminar flow hood.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Examines clinical specimens (body fluids, tissue biopsies) received by the laboratory. Performs a variety of standardized procedures, both manual and automated. Performs quality control, validation, and other quality activities to verify performance of clinical assays.
  • Evaluates data to determine validity, any interference or other problem that would affect the result. Reports data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Ensures operation of analyzers, flow cytometers, RT-PCR systems and other laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology or equivalent education
  • Must receive satisfactory results from a background check

  • Computer literate.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language.
  • Ability to work/interact with diverse populations.
