Position Summary

Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics is seeking to fill a full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Medical Assistant position. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting providers with clerical/administrative tasks and clinical duties. He/she will be assigned under nursing supervision to Student Health Services and help facilitate student compliance with health and immunization requirements of the university and clinical rotation sites. The Medical Assistant will provide information to students so they may fully utilize and benefit from Student Health Services and convey a positive image of Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform clerical/administrative responsibilities as assigned, which may include: accessing, maintaining, and archiving student health records; documenting immunizations and titer results; answering phone calls/emails
  • Schedule, perform, and document respirator fit tests; calibrate, maintain, and update PortaCount quantitative fit test equipment; maintain adequate inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Fulfill clinical responsibilities as assigned within the scope of practice
  • Fulfill organizational responsibilities as assigned which may include: respecting/promoting student and/or patient rights and keeping immediate supervisor(s) informed of problems relating to student, patient, and/or staff
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or delegated



Required Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of medical assisting program.
  • Maintain BLS certification.
  • Must achieve a background check clearance.
  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check


Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of health care field.
  • Knowledge of routine immunizations for adults.
  • Knowledge of lab report documentations.
  • Exemplary skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to work/interact with diverse populations, showing respect and sensitivity for cultural differences.
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to students and patients.
  • Skill in performing tasks appropriately and independently.
  • Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
  • Skill in understanding of patient education needs.
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
