Position Summary

Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics Community Care Connections is seeking to fill a full-time, 37.5 per week, Medical Assistant position. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting providers with patient care, educational presentations, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks at the Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics mobile unit that travels throughout Lake County. The Medical Assistant will provide information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the services and convey a positive representation of Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics.

Who We Are

Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics Community Care Connections (RFUHC-CCC), a subsidiary of Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, is a mobile unit active in the community for over 10 years with a focus of connecting community members to primary care providers. RFUHC -CCC provides various services to include, but not limited to, health education, health screenings, sports physicals and vaccination clinics to bridge the gap between health awareness, health needs and resource availability. RFUHC-CCC targets marginalized groups and communities with known health disparities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Fulfill patient care responsibilities as assigned within the scope of practice.
  • Fulfill clerical/administrative responsibilities as assigned which may include: accessing patient medical records; documenting screening results, closing out charts, follow up emails/phone calls and assisting with grant report completion.
  • Fulfill environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include: setting up instruments and equipment, cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; ordering, sorting, storing supplies and restocking exam/procedure rooms.
  • Fulfill organizational responsibilities as assigned which may include: respecting/promoting patient rights and keeping immediate supervisor(s) informed of problems relating to patients and/or staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or delegated

Required Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of medical assisting program.
  • Maintain BLS certification
  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check
  • Must have proof of COVID 19 vaccination or a university approved exemption

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of the healthcare field.
  • Exemplary skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to work/interact with diverse populations, showing respect and sensitivity for cultural differences.
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
  • Skill in performing tasks appropriately and independently
  • Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
  • Skill in understanding of patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual. Spanish speaker
