Our Team

The Facility Services & Engineering team develops and manages programs and services that promote a safe, secure and well-maintained office space while supporting the business needs of our customers.

Position Summary

As a member of the Facility Services and Engineering team you will be responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration equipment. This will include all industrial kitchen equipment and exhaust hoods in a studio environment. Responsibilities will include the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs for the Knoxville campus to include walk in freezers, walk in coolers, exhaust hoods and other in studio equipment. Requires strong communication skills, willingness to work as part of a high performing team that provides exceptional customer service and a willingness to multi-task while building strong relationships with Discovery staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an exceptional level of customer service
  • Performs repairs, overhauls, and start-ups of campus-wide refrigeration systems
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, following blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schemes or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair system or units
  • Ensures compliance with all OSHA standards as well as building Heath & Safety programs
  • Performs preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed
  • Maintains accurate records of work
  • Keeps current all manufacturers products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair
  • Coordinates work of outside vendors as necessary
  • Provides technical support to other Facilities Operations staff
  • Participate in 24x7 after-hour/emergency on call rotation
  • Cross-train on other systems (safety, lighting, plumbing, etc.) to provide additional support
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of commercial equipment service experience or HVAC experience (preferably in a studio environment)
  • Completion of Associates degree, HVAC trade school certification or other 5-year apprenticeship program
  • Universal EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification
  • Basic working knowledge of commercial plumbing and electrical systems
  • Valid, clean driver's license
  • Additional certifications to be evaluated
  • Experience with FM Systems or other maintenance management program preferred
  • Able to climb ladders, bend, squat and other similar physical demands; work requires ability to maneuver in confined spaces and the ability to perform duties at heights
  • Must be able to routinely lift to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of 50-75 pounds
  • Must be capable of working extended hour days when job/business needs demand
  • Will need to be available for 24x7 on-call rotation
