Hiring Range: $53,729.29 - 68,264.92/Year D.O.Q.

Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team! This position is under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager in diagnosing, troubleshooting and conducting the repairs to cars, trucks, tractors, small engine equipment, boats, and marine outboards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
  • Oversees and performs mechanical repairs to maintenance fleet, office pool vehicles, patrol vehicles, patrol boats, and work boats
  • Completes preventive maintenance, such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation, replace filters, and lubricate moving parts
  • Experience in repairs to Gasoline, Diesel and small engines and marine outboard motors
  • Diagnose, research, and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, air conditioning, etc. to specification
  • Maintenance vehicle records
  • Reads, interprets and follows owner's manual and manufacturers maintenance recommendations
  • Conducts field repairs on vehicles and equipment as needed
  • Procures parts, materials and equipment necessary to complete jobs
  • Maintains inventory of PCCA owned tools and equipment
  • Identifies and reports needed repairs to work trucks, cars, equipment, boats and outboard engines
  • Directs and trains assigned crew in daily general preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment
  • Assures work area, tools and equipment are cleaned upon completion of assignments
  • Confers with maintenance supervisors in the performance of crew members. Makes recommendations and keeps maintenance supervisors informed of work issues
  • Interprets company policies to crew and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures. Works towards a safe and positive work environment
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies, promotes and adheres to the SEAPORT values, state/federal laws
  • Drives vehicles as necessary to complete assigned duties
  • Complete assigned training/certifications
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • CPR certified or ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
  • Tier 2 status designation

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should be an organized, thorough, and disciplined individual with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA. They must possess the following:

EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
  • ASE Certification required
  • Automotive Applied Technology (Associate) preferred
  • Valid drivers license
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) preferred
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment

TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to ability to speak, read and write English
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before employees
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate in a clear and concise manner with other mechanics, technicians, supervisors and management team
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations (i.e. rate, ratio and percent) in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Understanding of MS Office, including Word and Excel, Outlook and other related applications
  • Maintain good employee relations and encourages and fosters a helpful environment where teamwork prevails. Assists senior management and office staff where appropriate

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
  • Exposure to adverse weather conditions. Exposure to fumes and/or air particulates
  • Work in high precarious places. Risk of electrical shock and moving mechanical parts. Moderate noise levels. Working off boats or barges
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles, mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, and kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in a general office environment, with some exposure to the elements when visiting worksites
  • Ability to operate light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment and to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
  • Ability to work within time restraints
