Job Overview: The Marketing Manager plays a key role in strategy, planning, executing, and reporting on the myriad of marketing campaigns that drive demand for our institution and our programming. This person is a keen project manager who can effectively articulate, advance, and execute all creative content while also being adept at budgeting and comfortable using quantitative results to drive decision making. The individual is an expert in many trades and current in best practices in audience development, segmentation, direct mail, audience research, paid media campaigns, and the like. The graphic designer also reports to this position.

The Marketing Manager will develop projections for each show in consultation with others and learn strategies for dynamic pricing that maximize revenue while working to attract younger and more diverse audiences. This may include the creation of discount strategies and the identification of new partnerships.?The Marketing Manager?works with the Digital Marketing Manager to achieve sales goals through expanding audience outreach -all while upholding City Center's mission and our commitment to be an anti-racist organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Set strategy and generate and manage marketing plans for all of City Center programs and rentals, where applicable
  • Work closely with the VP of Marketing and Director of Audience Engagement & Sales on projections, dynamic pricing, discounts, and reforecasting ticket revenue
  • Strategize and manage workflows for all creative content from major season/show campaigns to social ads, to website assets and videos, etc. Work closely with the department and with other institutional clients to meet timelines and budgets.
  • Provide clear and insightful direction to Graphic Designer to achieve goals of various projects while maintaining brand consistency and excellence
  • Work with Digital Marketing Manager to coordinate efforts to maximize efficacy of complete marketing plan and coordination of press, emails, social, etc.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing for all print collateral
  • Oversee the design, and handle the trafficking of direct mail pieces, brochures, printed programs, signage, digital banner ads, video, etc. for Marketing, Development, and Education
  • Manage mailing lists and generate targeted lists for various mailings throughout the year using Tessitura and Audience 360.
  • Fulfill list rental and exchange requests from other organizations through Audience 360 and Enertex
  • Work with VP of Marketing on audience research, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Oversee the design, production, and sales of City Center's show specific merchandise
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with various partners to help build new audiences
  • Oversee City Center's volunteer program
  • Oversee departmental budgets and execute invoice processing
  • Assist City Center renters with the creation of emails and printed materials
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, freelancers, rights holders, and advertising agencies as needed for special projects and marketing initiatives
  • Collect and analyze key website, email, and paid campaign metrics and compile reports for the marketing department establishing show-type benchmarks that can serve as early indications of success or a need for change in strategy
  • Provide renter's digital guidelines to improve the success of companies that rent our facilities
  • Responsible for digital asset management for marketing department, including collecting and organizing photos and videos for New York City Center productions and rentals
  • Identify non-show campaigns that reinforce the City Center brand beyond show marketing
  • Attend City Center events and performances



POSITION REQUIREMENTS: This Role Requires:

  • Ability to articulate desired visual outcomes and give constructive feedback to designers
  • Prior experience setting and executing media campaign strategies that deliver positive results
  • Ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Confidence with CRM platforms; experience with Tessitura is a plus
  • Delights in doing a job well and setting the standard for the team and the institution
  • Acts as a resource to others in the institution
  • Creative thinker who operates proactively and figures out how to do things without being told
  • Effective and clear communicator, in writing and in person
  • Champions the audience within the institution
  • Adept at building Survey Monkey questionnaires and reporting
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, with competing priorities
  • Knowledge and passion of dance and musical theater?and deep appreciation for City Center
  • Experience with HTML and MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint: InDesign experience is a plus
