The Engineering Technician position provides the successful candidate with an immediate opportunity to be involved with technology that helps save lives, improve patient outcomes, and reduce the cost of medicine around the world. Philips is a leading innovator in the Ultrasound Imaging, and at the heart of every Ultrasound System is a transducer. Transducer technology is a cornerstone in the Philips Healthcare portfolio. You will focus primarily on failure analysis to support and improve the processes for integrated circuit-based transducer manufacturing.

You are responsible for

  • Employing analysis techniques and tools to identify failure mechanisms on analog and digital devices.
  • Interfacing with Manufacturing and Product, Test, Design Engineering groups as needed to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Curiously investigate everything ability to solve problems analytically, creatively and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with electronics and/ or semiconductor physics and operation of devices such as integrated circuits and transistors is highly desired.
  • Provide technical support to resolve manufacturing and quality problems, including yield and nonconforming product. Drive corrective action with detailed follow up.
  • Identify, analyze and implement yield improvement projects and lean manufacturing techniques to improve product quality.
  • Develop and execute design and process verification activities, including statistical analysis, similarity, and testing.
  • Help leverage our relationship with local university labs to utilize advanced analysis equipment such as X-ray and acoustic analysis, microscopy, spectroscopy, chemical etch and dye techniques, and SEM/EDS analysis.
  • Work with project teams in the development of new analysis techniques and methods.

You are a part of

The Ultrasound Manufacturing team, based in Reedsville, PA, consists of production 500 associates with diverse backgrounds and expertise. You will work with the Supply Chain Engineering team of 30 engineers in a fast-paced environment that emphasizes a first-time-right approach.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Technical associate degree preferably in Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology, or related field up to 3 years of practical experience applying engineering principles in a manufacturing environment
  • Prepare and conduct experiments; collect, organize and summarize data
  • Self-starter, highly motivated with good organizational/time management skills
  • Ability to communicate with engineers, operators and management
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Statistical Methods (Process Capability, SPC, Trend Analysis)
  • Computer literate in MS Office Applications
  • Experience in a regulated environment
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated experience with the validation, documentation, and manufacture of medical devices
  • Green belt/black belt or Shainin certification
  • Solid Works or other CAD software experience
  • Minitab experience
