Seeking a dynamic leader to coach and supervise inspection department employees at our aerospace manufacturing business in Butte, Montana. This role provides on-going support in implementing technical, practice and procedural solutions to improve Safety, Quality and Delivery. Schedules resources, provides technical and people leadership and facilitates product flow to meet customer requirements and promises. The Shift Supervisor complies and ensures team compliance with internal safety, quality system, business policies, and regulatory requirements; support business goals and objectives. Other responsibilities include mentoring, facilitating, and enhancing a teamwork oriented culture through coaching, feedback, and creative solutions to drive morale and enhance overall team and company culture through people leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coach and supervise between 20 to 30 hourly front-line manufacturing employees
- Drive a positive culture focused on safety, quality, delivery and employee engagement
- Ensure and promote safety as a job priority throughout the plant
- Perform administrative duties to support the business segment, including time and attendance, labor vouchers, employee performance reviews, audits, disciplinary actions, missing time corrections, etc.
- Execute production through resource allocation, critical part execution, and collaboration with production team
- Work in an integrated team with Production Control to create, monitor and deliver on commitments
- Collaborate across teams and shifts (Engineering, Quality, Materials, Maintenance, and Operations) to identify and implement technical solutions to improve losses and productivity metrics by reducing costs and improving quality and throughput
- Practice sound human relations and communications skills to motivate, develop and drive a self-directed workforce culture
- Coach associates on issues such as employee relations and conflict resolution
- Engage employees to understand business goals, meet production requirements, and value their individual contributions.
- Perform MRB activities and develop rework instructions.
- Collaborate with Lean to develop and implement Lean process improvement initiatives to increase productivity, reduce cycle time, reduce WIP, improve inventory turns and reduce manufacturing losses
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering to analyze and diagnose equipment and tooling problems and coordinate corrective measures to minimize downtime and interruption of schedules
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Schedule:
Generally Monday-Thursday 6am-4:30pm. Must be willing to work other hours as needed.
Work Environment:
- May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels).
- Safety training and equipment are provided by MPP in accordance with applicable law, industry standards and company policy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent technical experience and two years of supervisory, coach, or leadership - experience in an industrial environment or other directly applicable experience
OR
- Associates degree or equivalent technical training and at least 5 years of supervisory, coach, or leadership experience in an industrial environment or other directly applicable experience
- Ability to speak, read, write English
- Ability to legally work in the United States

- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
Desired Characteristics:
- Bachelor's or technical degree in Engineering , Business, or Operations Management is preferred
- Knowledge of quality procedures
- Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings/specifications and manufacturing processes associated with inspection such as NDT.
- Lean manufacturing experience
- Tenacity in delivering results through collaboration and teamwork
