The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, manage, and oversee  Police Services Non-Sworn operations.  This is accomplished by ensuring court policies and administrative procedures are applied and enforced, evaluating issues and developing resolutions, analyzing needs, developing and implementing training, and identifying and resolving unsafe situations.  Other duties include  managing and evaluating staff performance and related departmental activities, and completing special projects as assigned.


 Examples of Duties:
  • Manages Transit Officers, Lead Transit Ambassadors, and Transit Ambassadors by planning and ensuring daily tasks and activities are followed, establishes procedures and guidelines, evaluates assigned services, coaches for performance improvement, identifies and issues appropriate disciplinary actions, develops and monitors training, serves on hearing panels, and maintains documents and statistics.  Interprets and applies provisions of the ATU Labor Agreement in accordance with SacRT guidelines.
  • Assists with the coordination  of police services and other contract security personnel by ensuring that the scheduling and coordination of work, and assignments with other departments and contractors is completed; ensures that  information on current events, policies and procedures is disseminated to appropriate personnel.  Assists with the development of new and updated policies and procedures, goals, objectives, and work standards related to the Transit Department.  Ensures compliance with all SacRT policies and procedures including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO).
  • Manages the processing of citations and ensures that court calendars are maintained. Reviews, researches and processes citations, schedules and maintains staff court appearances, serves subpoenas, disseminates information; manages the preparation and maintainenance of new violator lists and files; and prepares  and analyzes statistics and reports.
  • Ensures accident and service issues are addressed by assigning staff to respond to and investigate injuries, accidents, incidents, and service issues;  manages emergency service and responses, responds to customer issues and conflicts, and forwards customer concerns to appropriate departments. 
  • Ensures departmental data is maintained through collection, analysis, preparation and maintenance  of citation and court information, review of accident and incident investigations, monitoring of ridership reports, entering data on staff schedules and assignments, approving pay adjustments, and investigating and resolving general public issues. Performs related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education: Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two (2) year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from an accredited college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.
Additional directly related experience beyond the minimum requirement may substitute for the required education based on the ratio of one and a half (1.5) years of experience for each (1) year of education.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in public transit, three (3) years of experience in rail operations, and two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Certification & Other Requirements: Possession of a valid Driver's License is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a valid California Driver's License and a PC832 Certificate.

Proof of required education beyond high school, such as college transcripts, diplomas, and/or certificates must be submitted at the time of application, if not substituting experience for the education.
