Our Business Performance Manager will support Amgen Manufacturing Operations B7 at the Global Headquarters in Thousand Oaks, reporting into the Business Performance Senior Manager. The Business Performance group drives business analysis, performance reporting, project management, data analysis, governance, and enables key cross-functional initiatives. The successful candidate will take an active role in advancing plant goals and business performance, KPIs, governance and metrics cascades and strategic initiatives to deliver for patients.

The job responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Portfolio and Project Management - Lead all aspects of multiple projects/processes to include planning, estimating, scheduling, tendering, monitoring, reporting, risk management facilitation, execution, invoicing, and closeout. Maintain a master project plan and schedule for assigned projects. Translate team plans into meaningful and measurable tasks. Ensure a timely and clear communication with all partners. Activities include planning, estimating, scheduling, tendering, monitoring, reporting
  • Safety and Compliance - Manage plant safety program in collaboration with EHSS partners
  • Risk Management and Business Continuity - Maintain ATO B7 plant risk strategy and business continuity plans. Facilitate team-level risk assessments and scenario planning to support issue resolution. Pro-actively drive development of contingency and/or risk-mitigation plans.
  • Continuous Improvement - Support industrial engineering and Operational Excellence capabilities to the critical areas in the value chain in need of efficiency improvement (e.g. lean transformation, run rate increase projects). Drive continuous improvement projects within manufacturing operations
  • Communications Leadership - Develop materials, including business cases, and communicate analysis and recommendations to senior management. Synthesize information and insights into executive summaries and presentations for senior management
  • Data analysis - Develop presentations based on data and communicate analysis and recommendations to senior management. Perform trend analysis to drive decisions. Perform business and resource forecasting, financial modeling, and trend analysis to drive decisions.
  • Collaboration - Collaborate with cross-functional teams in completing operations activities - including Finance, Facilities & Engineering, Safety, Quality and other teams to meet the constantly evolving needs of the business.


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of Project Management experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Project Management experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Project Management experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of project management experience in life science/manufacturing/operations
  • Ability to foster collaboration, work effectively on cross-functional teams, and consistently deliver timely.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; proven time management and decision-making skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Quick learner, proactive, takes initiative.
  • Distinguishes accurate balance between strategic and tactical thinking.
  • Strong experience with Project Management tools, methodologies, and practices.
  • Proven experience in a highly fluid, interactive, matrix environment.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite, MS Project, SharePoint, Smartsheet.
  • Ability to drive prioritization based on business drivers and technical/regulatory risk.
  • Strong interest in learning new things, ability to tackle tasks with limited information and/or mentorship
  • Independent self-starter. Ability to set clear goals and efficient prioritize workload, operate autonomously and deliver timely, high-quality work output and in teams. Understands what it means to own something and be accountable.
