Our approach to developing new medicines is based on applying proprietary, drug delivery technology that improves the way drugs are dosed and released. We are currently focused on the development and potential FDA approval of our lead candidate, FT218.

Avadel's FT218 is an investigational, once at bedtime, extended-release formulation of sodium oxybate intended to treat excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) and cataplexy in patients suffering from narcolepsy. Sodium Oxybate is currently the standard of care for the treatment of excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) and cataplexy in patients suffering from narcolepsy. However, the currently approved sodium oxybate formulations require two nightly doses - one dose at bedtime and the second dose 2.5-4 hours later, in the middle of the night.

Once at bedtime FT218 has been granted Orphan Drug Designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of narcolepsy. The designation was granted on the plausible hypothesis that once at bedtime FT218 may be clinically superior to a formulation of sodium oxybate that is already approved by the FDA for the same indication. In particular, once at bedtime FT218 may be safer due to ramifications associated with the dosing regimen of the currently marketed twice-nightly product. Avadel's market research suggests that FT218, if approved by the FDA, has the potential to command a meaningful share of the multi-billion dollar narcolepsy treatment market. FT218 currently has patent protection until at least 2037 with additional patent applications pending that could extend that date beyond 2040.

On April 27, 2020, we announced positive topline results from our pivotal phase 3 REST-ON trial of once-nightly FT218 for the treatment of excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy in patients with narcolepsy. On December 16, 2020, we announced the submission of our New Drug Application (NDA) in the United States for FT218. On March 1, 2021, we announced FDA acceptance of the FT218 NDA and a target action PDUFA date of October 15, 2021.

We are a small team that will be growing a lot and we have a lot of work to do in building towards our best-in-class team to support commercialization of FT218, if approved. Position Summary:

Avadel Pharmaceuticals is seeking an Manager Commercial Operations to the Director of Commercial Operations who is a dynamic self-starter, strong collaborator, relationship builder, organizer extraordinaire, and can embrace a growing organization's needs. The Manager Commercial Operations serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the Director of Commercial Operations. This role will be the primary support and point of contact for the Director of Commercial Operations and provides administrative support to members of the Commercial Operations Team.

The successful candidate is a problem solver, happy to take the initiative, anticipates needs, and can proactively support the objectives and goals of the Director of Commercial Operations, staff and aligned partners. The successful candidate has excellent communication skills and reflects the positivity of Avadel and Avadel's core values as a key contact and representative of the company for both internal employees and external parties. The Manager, Commercial Operations handles sensitive matters with a high level of confidentiality and discretion and is technology savvy.

The successful Manager Commercial Operations is self-driven and will ensure that the Director's productivity is enhanced by managing calendars, meetings, and travel schedules. Will ensure that meetings are scheduled and prepared for, including the coordination of offsite events. This position requires the ability to manage and coordinate complex business travel by developing itineraries and agendas, booking transportation, hotel, and meeting accommodations. Must have the ability to manage multiple important assignments by establishing objectives, determining priorities, managing time and gaining the cooperation of others to ensure successful completion. Must be comfortable working/interfacing with all levels within the organization and fostering and maintaining strong working relationships.

Essential Functions:

  • Calendar Management: Coordinates full schedule of Director of Operations and VP of Sales, ensuring that meetings, deadlines, presentations, and other duties are carried out seamlessly. Schedules meetings with internal and external attendees with consideration for multiple locations and/or time zones. Prepares necessary documents needed for meetings. Determines priorities and ensure efficient management of meetings. Review calendar often for schedule conflicts occurring throughout the week/month and proactively brings to the attention of the Director. May provide calendar support to other department members as appropriate.
  • Time Management: Takes requests for meetings and informs visitors when/where Director will be available. Responsible for client/visitor escorts. Informs Director of meeting start times throughout the day and facilitates timely meeting wrap-ups.
  • Travel & Expense Management: Manages travel (domestic and international) and logistics for Director and VP of Sales. Prior to travel, proactively review itinerary with Director to ensure all details are addressed. Responds with a sense of urgency to changes. Tracks expenses and prepares expense reports in a timely manner. May provide travel support to other department members as appropriate.
  • Roster Management: Maintains employee database, phone & address list, SharePoint documents and folders. Takes initiative in performing administrative tasks not requiring immediate attention of supervisors, requiring confidence and professional judgment. Back up for other department Assistants when necessary, including vacation coverage. Sorts and disseminates mail. Manages both paper and electronic filing systems.
  • Fleet Management: Fleet handbook, insurance, rentals, accidents, renewals, education, compliance, and DMV records.
  • Internal & Field Communications
  • Business Operations Support: Support with contract/agreement activities: Assists with budget tracking, measuring progress vs. plan budget, accruals, tracking/trending of vendor invoices and reassure the effective processing of all purchase orders. Manages approval of invoices, allocation, reconciliation, and reporting. Supports employee training program. Updates department's SharePoint site as needed.
  • Sales Support: Serves as information resource for operations staff by staying current with Avadel policies and procedures. Coordinate's activities relating to personnel changes, ordering business cards, office/cubicle moves and other tasks, as necessary. Responsible for new employee set up, orientation training, and assisting with troubleshooting system access issues, etc. Assists operations staff with scheduling appointments and events, travel, expense reports, catering, and lunch requests, ordering office supplies.
  • Position will support the following positions: Director Commercial Operations, two Associate Directors, and Field Sales as needed.
  • Frequent interfacing and assisting with others on the Commercial Operations team who work out of other offices.
  • Required Hours: Typically, 8 a.m. 5 p.m. with some early mornings and evenings on occasion.

Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • HS diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience with office management, supporting complex sales and/or marketing teams, including direct responsibility for supporting senior leaders in a corporate environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer software programs (MS Office and other relevant software) and willingness to learn new systems as required.
  • Proven experience in managing complex schedules.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, other departments, and both internal and external stakeholders.
