Campaign Manager

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC) was the first museum in L.A. to open its doors 108 years ago and is poised for an exciting new era as it plans for the future. Having recently completed a new strategic framework, the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles Countyincluding NHM at Exposition Park, La Brea Tar Pits and Museum in mid-Wilshire, and the William S. Hart Museum in Newhallis looking forward to new building projects and campaigns, exhibitions, community outreach, and innovative audience engagement.

The NHMLAC is seeking a Campaign Manager for our Advancement department. The Campaign Manager works closely with the Associate Vice President, Advancement to promote and manage the day-to-day operations of significant fundraising campaigns at the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County, and specifically the campaigns to renovate La Brea Tar Pits and build the NHM Commons. In coordination with the CAO and AVP, implement and manage the campaign and will possess demonstrated abilities to: coordinate major fundraising efforts to raise in excess of $100 million of private support over the course of the campaign; ensure fundraising strategies are developed and followed; present strategic fundraising objectives to key stakeholders; and support the staffing of key volunteers of the Board of Directors. It is an exciting time as we embark on new journeys of becoming a museum of, for, and with L.A.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Manage, implement and maintain all aspects of NHMLACs capital and special fundraising campaigns, including the execution of the campaign operating plans, timetables and achievement of goals
  2. Support the implementation of clearly defined goals and strategies to move individual prospects through the gift-cycle leading to successful closure of principal gifts and major gifts
  3. Develop and oversee NHMLACs prospect management system and work with solicitation team to effectively manage their major gift portfolios
  4. Manage the development and production of campaign communications assets, including case materials, both printed and digital
  5. Implement efforts of campaign committees and its participants and, as appropriate, provide guidance on the most effective solicitation methods

This position has the following requirements:

  1. Minimum three years experience working in a non-profit, educational, or similar organization
  2. Experience with high-level scheduling and tracking complex projects
  3. Familiarity with the Los Angeles area philanthropic community desired
  4. Successful track record of building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and organization leaders
  5. Excellent English language skills: oral, written, reading as well as strong interpersonal communication skills
  6. Knowledge and utilization of donor databases or similar platform
  7. Abides by the Association of Fundraising Professionals code of ethics
  8. Advanced Microsoft Office and Google Workspace skills
  9. BA/BS degree required, preferably in Nonprofit Management, Sales, Marketing or Humanities
  10. Will consider other equivalent combinations of education and experience

The NHMLAC is seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience and commitment to working with a diverse community. Salary range for this position is $84,258 - $86,070 with experience plus excellent benefits. This is a full-time regular, exempt position.
